Bass Tackle Depot .com would like to congratulate Bass Tackle Depot national fishing team member James Niggemeyer, of Van, Texas, a third year Elite Series Pro, for continuing the theme of his outstanding season by closing the Bassmaster Central Open season in style.
Niggemeyer finished the three event Central Open schedule with 829 total points, beating the 2nd place competitor by 36 points. His Central Open season opened in March with his third BASS win in impressive fashion; sealing the win in a tie breaker shootout. He followed that up with a 9th place finish at Sam Rayburn in September, then finished the season with his third consecutive top 10 finish with a 10th place at Louisiana’s Atchafalya Basin last weekend.
His dominance of the Central Open season concluded a year in which Niggemeyer finished the Bassmaster Elite Series season in 26th place in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year Points Series, which qualified him for his second trip to the Bassmaster Classic. His Central Open Points Title made him a double qualifier into the February 2010 World Championship on Alabama’s Lay Lake. His Bassmaster Classic invite will now come courtesy of his open berth which makes room for his Bass Cat teammate Mark Tucker in the Classic field.
Niggemeyer is a resident of the east Texas town of Van, and is known for his skill with a Flippin Stick, in thick shallow cover. His trademark shallow water approach was responsible for much of his success this season.
