Lee Bailey, Jr. catches his first double digit bass, a lake Amistad 12lb Giant!
Lee Bailey, Jr. headed back to Lake Anistad after the Clear Lake CA Elite Series tournament to get some well needed R & R. Lee and wife Carol were spending some time with food friends Roch and Trisha Urban. While enjoying his down time and catching up on business Lee decided to go out fishing for a while on Thursday April 5, 2007. After having a slow few hours and catching a 7 pounder Lee decided to run up the lake a but.
Lee Explains; “I pulled into an area where the water was still clear. I was throwing a swim bait around and saw this giant follow it. She turned off and settled around this bush. I picked up my Powell 766 flipping rod rigged with an Evolution jig tipped with a Yamamoto Craw and pitched it into the bush. I never actually felt her hit the bait. She just started swimming off with it. When I set the hook all heck broke loose. Than God, my 15lb Vicious fluorocarbon held together”.
Lee excited states, “This was my first double digit bass ever, I have been fishing for more than 30 years and finally caught one of those giants I keep seeng everywhere. I released the fish back into the lake and am looking to get a replica mount of it made. The first people I called was my wife and our friends to come down to the ramp so they could share this moment with me”.
