Judy Wong fished Cypress Black Bayou like a pro, because that is exactly what she is. Coming into this tournament the Angler of the Year title was up for grabs for the top of the field. Judy knew that she needed to take the lead and keep it to have a chance at Angler of the Year.
Judy Wong fished Cypress Black Bayou like a pro, because that is exactly what she is. Coming into this tournament the Angler of the Year title was up for grabs for the top of the field. Judy knew that she needed to take the lead and keep it to have a chance at Angler of the Year.
Not only would Judy have to take the lead but she would have to better Pam Martin Wells who came into this tournament in first place by better than 56 points and Juanita Robinson who was in second by more than 34 points. Inorder for that to happen no matter how hard Judy fished she would also need other anglers to fish well enough to position themselves between herself and Pam & Juanita.
Judy and Pam spent three long days fishing within 150 feet of eachother. Judy said "I found this area during pre-fish and decided I was going to use it during the tournament." Speaking of her Honey Hole on the North side of the bridge & levee dividing thes small impoundment. It paid off for her. Pam also found her spot, on the South side of the bridge, in pre-fish. While motoring under the bridge she noticed the mud line which alerted her to the current moving between the two sides of the lake. She graphed it, put a couple of fish in the boat and left it for the tournament.
Infront of her family, some of which had never been to a tournament, Judy Wong put together a very impresssive 3 day total of 31lbs. 10oz.. Beating Pam Martin Wells by 4 pounds. However that did not dampen Pam Martin Wells’ spirits, while she always wants to win, she is very excited to represent the WBT on Lay Lake Alabama in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic as the WBT Angler of the Year.
Congratulations to Judy for an outstanding tournament win and to Pam for your incredible season and Angler of the Year and to the rest of the ladies that made it to the top 20 in your field and made it to Louisiana to compete in the 2009 WBT Championship.
