Berkley sponsored a spectacular spectator opportunity by offering one lucky member the chance to win $100,000.00! About half way though the big show Mark Bar was picked from the thousands of people in attendance to meet with Hank Parker for a quick casting lesson behind stage before being brought out on the back of a fully rigged Classic boat towed by none other than a Toyota Tundra to make one cast into the mouth of a giant bass about 55 feet away.

Mark played with the rod and reel a bit, took some time to double check the fall of the casting plug before making a long pitch to the opening of what could have been a dream come true. See not only did he have to hit the mouth of this 20 foot tall bass but had to place the plug within the red cup without banking, skipping or hopping, it had to be a slam dunk.

Mark missed.

When Hank asked Mr. Bar what he thought about the whole deal Mark replied “I think I’d like another shot.” The crowd all had a good laugh at Marks expense but Berkley wasn’t going to just let him go without making it worth his while. Hank Parker presented the Rod and Reel combo Mark used, along with a rod and reel combo for his wife and daughter, a huge tackle bag stuffed full of Berkeley tackle and a check for $5,000.00.

I guess you don’t have to be a pro angler to be treated right; but it sure helps to have a lucky seat.

See you on the water.
