Lock Jaw Bass Club Tournament Review

The Lock Jaw Bass Club Has fished 7 of it 12 tournaments for the year 2006. We have done an excellent job of scheduling tournaments on days with horrible weather conditions. Even though the weather hasn’t cooperated we have had the best year in the club’s history as for quantity and quality.

Records have been set across the board this year. We have had the biggest stringer, the biggest bass, the biggest turn out at a tournament, and the most members in the clubs history.  Here is the break down of the tournaments we have had so far this year: The Lock Jaw Bass Club Has fished 7 of it 12 tournaments for the year 2006.

Here is the break down of the tournaments we have had so far this year:

Our first tournament was held in late January and we had a decent turn out of 19 fisherman. For the first time we did not fish Cleco instead we opted for Cotile Lake. Taking first place was Shannon Thibodeaux and Chris Chandler with 10.12 lbs. Second place went to Kevin Manuel and Jared LeBlue with 8.12 lbs., and 3rd was taken by Brittyn Meche and Matt Cormier with 8.8lbs. Shannon Thibodeaux had big bass with a 4.11 lb. bass.

The second tournament of the year and the first one in February was held at Indian Creek. We had a record turn out of 31 fishermen for this tournament and it was a cold, blue bird day. 1st place was taken by Aaron Lafleur with 13.14 lbs. Second was taken by Dennis Jones and Rodney Dunn with 11.6 lbs., and 3rd  went to Danny and his guest with 5.14 lbs. Big bass was a 5.2 lbs and was caught by Aaron Lafleur.

The third tournament of the year and the second fished in February was held out of Cypress Bend at Toledo Bend reservoir.  1st place went to Aaron Lafleur with 14.98lbs. 2nd place was taken by Tracy Fontenot and Jeff Blood with a stringer of 13.15 lbs. 3rd place went to Shannon Thibodeaux and guest at 10.75 lbs. The big bass honors went to Aaron Lafleur with a 6.57 lb bass.

The fourth stop on the year was at South Toledo Bend State Park for our only March tournament. We had another great turn out of 31 fishermen. 1st place was earned by keith Welch and Mike Gardner with an 18.53 lb stringer. 2nd went to Shannon Thibodeaux and Nick Andrus with a 18.17lb stringer and 3rd was taken by Charlie Lemons and Kenneth Kingry with 12.73lbs. Nick Andrus had big bass with one that went 6.72lbs.

The fifth tournament was held at Grand Bayou and was the first tournament in April. We had 19 fishermen at this one, and two records set for the club. 1st place was taken by Josh Richard and Brittyn Meche with a record stringer of 19.29lbs. 2nd place was taken by Eric LeBleu and Jared King with 15.02 lbs., and 3rs place went to Jeff Dauzat and Seth Dauzat with 9.49 lbs. The big bass of the tournament and the record size fish for the club went to Josh Richard with a 7.66 lb beauty.

Our sixth tournament of the year and second in April was held at Kincaid Lake. 15 fishermen showed up for the tournament that marked the half way point on the year. 1st place went to Aaron Lafleur with 10.54 lbs. 2nd went to Josh and Sean Richard with 8.83lbs and 3rd was taken by Eric LeBleu and Jared King with 6.32lbs. Big bass was 3.68lbs and was caught by Jeff Blood.

Our seventh tournament of the year and 1st tournament in May was held at Vernon Lake. I think someone went in that lake and added some more stumps. We had our lowest turn out for this on with only 11 fishermen participating.  Anyway 1st place went to, and this should look familiar, Aaron Lafleur with 13.20 lbs. 2nd was taken by Susie LeBlue and Jared LeBlue with 7.57lbs., and 3rd went to Jimmy Brown and Mike LeBlanc with 6.95 lbs. A 6.01 lb bass was caught by Aaron Lafleur and took big bass of the tournament.

We have 5 more tournaments left this year and the next one will be a night tournament held at Cotile Lake.  This will be the last month where we have 2 tournaments a month. I hope to be able to give a more in depth report on each of the following tournaments. I look forward to the remainder of the year and wish everyone good luck in the following tournaments.
