Newberry wins BFL on Red River

Dicky Newberry of Houston, Texas, caught a 5-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 7 ounces Saturday, May 15, 2010 to win $3,679 in the FLW BFL Cowboy Division tournament on the Red River. He was flipping tubes and lizards behind docks to catch his limit.

Warren Whitaker of Woodville, Miss., caught a 5-bass limit weighing 12 pounds, 10 ounces Saturday, May 15, 2010 to win $1,835 in the FLW BFL Cowboy Co-angler Division on the Red River. Under overcast skies he was using plastic worms near the lock in brush covered areas.

The next and final BFL Cowboy Division tournament is scheduled for Aug. 28-29, at Toledo Bend in Many, La. After the final Cowboy Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Regional Championship at Lake Texoma in Denison, Texas, Oct. 14-16, for a chance to win a 198VX Ranger boat with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
