Henry wins Lake Oconee

Matt Henry of Conyers, Ga., caught eight-bass weighing 26 pounds, 9 ounces Aug. 28-29 to win $5,446 in the BFL Bulldog Division tournament on Lake Oconee. Henry was fishing the Sugar Creek area and the main river using a topwater bait, Popper Mayfly Hatch, to haul in his catch.

Adam Beckum of Augusta, Ga., caught seven bass weighing 14 pounds, 6 ounces Aug. 28-29 to win $2,723 in the Co-angler Division. Beckum was fishing the Richland area using a shaky head custom painted Little John X treme Lure.

The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings have now qualified for the Oct. 21-23 Regional Championship on Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
