Spin ’N Win Winner goes to Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — B.A.S.S. member Glen Jorgensen will celebrate his birthday at the Bassmaster Classic presented by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Okla., as the grand prize winner of the Destination Bassmaster Classic Spin ’N Win sweepstakes. It’ll be the first time the Scotland, S.D., angler has seen a Classic, and he’s looking forward to it.

Jorgensen, who turns 66 on the second day of the championship on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, Feb. 22-24, won a trip for two to the “Super Bowl” of bass fishing. But don’t try to worm your way into joining him on the trip. He’s already invited his regular fishing buddy and fellow B.A.S.S. member, Rob Hurd of Sioux Falls. It will be Hurd’s first Classic, too.

“We do most of our fishing on a 100-acre lake that’s practically in my backyard,” Jorgensen said. “A lot of people don’t think of South Dakota when they think of bass fishing, but that little lake is one of the best fisheries I’ve ever been on.”

Though a South Dakotan by birth, Jorgensen, who entered the contest about six times, lived in Idaho for 16 years and caught the bass fishing bug there. He’s a fan of Brandon Palaniuk and will be rooting for the young Idaho pro in Tulsa.

Spin ’N Win was a new concept for a Bassmaster.com sweepstakes. It offered instant gratification for online registrants and daily prizes. In all, more than 1,000 prizes were given away in the sweepstakes that ended Dec. 21, 2012, including a B.A.S.S. Gear Packs, Bassmaster tips booklet, Bass Pro Shops gift cards, Abu Garcia Orra reels, Spiderwire Ultracast Invisi-Braid line, Trilene XL, LIVETARGET Hollow Body frog lures and Yo-Zuri Sashimi suspending jerkbaits.
