On Saturday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 a.m. ET on ESPN2, Ray Allen, the NBA All-Star shooting guard for the World Champion Boston Celtics, brings his skills to Beat Charlie Moore, while Brian Schram, former guitarist for the musical group Uncle Cracker, appears on the Worlds Greatest Fishing Show at 8:30 a.m., also on ESPN2.
On Beat Charlie Moore, Allen and Moore start the show with a bass fishing challenge, then move on to a basketball challenge. As with most episodes, Moore finds a twist to keep the basketball contest confined to the water instead of the hardwood court of Allens choice.
This weeks installment of the Worlds Greatest Fishing Show brings ESPN Outdoors host Mark Zona back to his native Michigan and Lake St. Clair with Detroit rocker Schram, who just released a new album titled Rockin Fish Tales. Pete Maina, who last season hooked up Zona with a large muskie, returns as all three fish together for muskie.
Also on Saturday, Jan. 10, A Day On The Lake returns and takes Bassmaster Elite Series pro Chris Lane of Winter Haven, Fla., for one day to catch fish on a lake he has never seen before. The new episode airs at 8 a.m. on ESPN2.
ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Sunday features trips to the Bahamas, the Baltic Sea and Rhode Island and concludes with a special visit to the Florida Keys.
Spanish Fly host Jose Wejebe dedicates the Sunday, Jan. 11, episode to the loving memory of Christian Goodpaster. The 9:30 a.m. show highlights the backcountry shallow water flats of the Florida Keys, where Wejebe and Goodpaster, a victim of cystic fibrosis, try to catch the saltwater grand slam: a bonefish, permit and tarpon. Because they fish between two hurricanes, the anglers are provided with only a short time to accomplish the slam. The two met 10 years ago when the Make-A-Wish Foundation put them together in Islamorada, Fla.
Bassmaster Elite Series pro Byron Velvicks Going Coastal on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 9 a.m. ventures to Block Island, R.I., to meet up with local captains Rich Tenreiro and Dave Cheiffo in hopes of catching some large striped bass. Velvick, of Lake Amistad, Texas, visits the local tackle shop for knowledge and tips before fishing.
Also on Sunday, Poveromos World of Saltwater Fishing showcases part two of George Poveromos 250-mile journey from Miami to Cape Eleutheras Powell Pointe Marina in the Bahamas. The 7:30 a.m. show provides some sensational fast fishing for yellowtails, cero mackerel, amberjack, grouper and snapper.
Fishing Adventurer takes off to the Swedish Artic Circle on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. to catch the brown trout that inhabit the areas pristine lakes and rivers. The show also travels toward the many islands of the Baltic Sea in search of pike.
