Alabama’s Kim Bain-Moore has won both Lady Bass Anglers Association (LBAA) events in 2011 and as the LBAA’s third regular season event is straight ahead at Alabama’s Lake Guntersville — people are wondering can Bain-Moore keep rolling and become the LBAA’s fist three-peat winner.
The LBAA’s third regular season tournament of the 2011 tournament season is just around the bend on July 7 and 8 at Alabama’s largest lake – Lake Guntersville. Guntersville is 69,100 acres of mainly shallow water that is filled with such delightful targets such as milfoil and hydrilla, stumps, underwater bridges and more.
What does this 30-year old Aussie transplant expect at Guntersville? “We’ve had pretty extreme weather in Alabama – it’s been really hot! So hot water on the lake is pretty much a guarantee,” Bain-Moore stated.
My previous trips to Guntersville utilized Rat-l-Traps and Senko’s. This time…I will probably pack everything and narrow it down during practice. No matter where, no matter when, I always hope for a top water bite – I find top water fishing to be the most exciting. What I do know is that when the heat of the day comes- I will be looking for shade”, Bain-Moore went on to say.
Right now, Bain-Moore has more upon her mind that just the Guntersville tournament. “I’d really like to qualify for the championship (LBAA 2011 Tour Championship – October 6-8), and putting points on the board is the secret to that.”
“My secret so far has just been to enjoy myself”, Bain-Moore said with a smile. “I really put in a lot of preparation in getting my tackle and boat ready. I almost practice tournament fishing while my boat is still on the trailer! I run through scenarios and make sure that I have all the things I’ll need at my fingertips so I don’t have to waste time looking, always remembering that it’s that one cast that can make a difference, and I definitely want to make sure I give myself the time for that cast!”
Lake Guntersville will be off limits through Friday, July1 with pre-tournament practice starting Saturday, July 2, and concluding by Noon on Wednesday, July 6.
