DALLAS – Dallas Baptist University is honored to announce a three-year, exclusive sponsorship agreement with Legend Boats and Mercury Marine. Ryan Erwin, DBU’s Director of Athletics shared, “We are very blessed and excited about the partnership with Legend Boats and Mercury Marine. Both of these companies are considered to be one of the best in the industry and we are honored to have the Patriot Bass Fishing Team using their equipment.”

With this agreement, DBU’s student-anglers will have access to two, fully-equipped, 20 foot Legend bass fishing boats, powered by Mercury engines for intercollegiate competition. “At DBU, we feel that under the direction of Connor Smith and support from former professional champion angler Scott Darragh, along with our top of the line equipment, the Patriot Anglers will be able to be competitive in all areas of the collegiate bass fishing arena. We have no doubt that we are setting up the DBU student-anglers to be successful and ‘Champions for Christ’,” Erwin stated.

Randy Qualls, President of Legend Boats said, “I am very impressed with the vision and direction of the DBU Bass Fishing program. Legend Boats is excited to be involved with a program that is on the cutting edge of competitive collegiate fishing. Being involved with the DBU program at such an early stage will allow the partnership to grow together.”

Dean Smith, CEO of Legend Boats said, “We see Dallas Baptist University’s Bass Fishing Team as a pioneer program of collegiate bass fishing. After seeing DBU’s vision and direction, we wanted to be involved with the program from the very start.”

“Mercury Marine has supported collegiate fishing for years. However, the goals and direction that DBU is taking with their program is quite impressive. We expect the partnership between DBU and Mercury Marine to grow in the coming years,” said Michelle Kilburn, Manager of Tournaments and Endorsements for Mercury Marine. Dallas Baptist University will support and allow for the Patriot Bass Fishing Team to compete at the local, regional, and national levels. The Patriot Bass Fishing Team will compete on all existing major collegiate bass fishing circuits.
