Montevallo, Al. – The 2012 FLW Rookie of the Year, Clent Davis, lands a deal with Halo Fishing for the 2012-2013 season. His rookie year on the FLW Tour included cashing checks in five of seven events and three top-12 finishes. Davis finished the season with a strong performance at the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Lanier, where he placed 12th.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on Halo Fishing for a while. Their rods are incredible for any price, but in that $150 price range, nothing touches the Halo Rods. The first thing I noticed about the rods is that they have excellent balance, are lightweight and are very sensitive. What surprised me most were the reels. These reels are light, cast great and have flawless drag systems,” Davis stated. “I can’t wait for the season to get started so I can put these rods and reels to work.”
Halo Fishing rods are used by several additional FLW Pro’s including Randall Tharp, JT Kenney, Koby Krieger and Brandon McMillian. “Adding Clent Davis to our pro staff was an easy choice for us. He’s not only an excellent angler, he’s a great speaker and knows his stuff when it comes to equipment,” expressed Halo Fishing’s Alex Pappas. “We know he’ll represent our product well and he will be an instrumental part of our future designs. Clent’s career got off to a great start in 2012 and we know his best years are still ahead of him. We are excited to be a part of that.”
Davis, who’s made over $150,000 in his young fishing career, made the top ten at Table Rock Lake in March of this year and just missed the top 10 cut at both the Potomac River and Lake Lanier (Forrest Wood Cup). He finished the year ranked 14th in the Angler of the Year standings and looks to improve next season. “This year was my first year on the pointy end of the boat and it was a learning experience. I am pleased with how the year came together, but I am expecting a lot more next season. The one thing I can’t stress enough to anglers out there is ‘Use solid equipment that will last and will help you get the job done’. I’m really excited about Halo Fishing because I have to compete with the best anglers in the world week in and week out, and its nice to know I have the best possible rods and reels in my hands to help me do that.”
