Don't know if all the Cat's are this way but what I have found astonishing about the PII is its ability to run with a load.  Ive been in a lot of boats and know what its like when the boat is loaded on a hot day and it seems the PII never gets effected by weight.  Im not saying that I can run 75 mph on a hot summer day with a tournament load but holeshot and midrange seem almost unaffected.  This boat takes the cake in the 19ft class for all around performance.....

I agree, its an awesome boat in the 19' class!

How do you argue those posts.  One heckuva a boat with lots to offer.

Have to agree; there is nothing in its class.  Owned another brand's 19' a few years ago.  The PII is a superior machine.

Deff Agreed!! My Kitty Cat (PII) is a bad machine!! Just think if we could put a 250 on it!!!
Some people want to be like Mike, I want to be like IKE!!!!

Are the new PII's a good bit wider on the front deck than the older models are?

I do have to say that even my old antique PII is relatively unaffected by tackle placed in the front storage areas.

To me what really stands out is the hole shot.   WOT is great too but getting on plane with all my Cats has been impressive.

Not sure about the width part, but I feel the PII is wide enough for my son to fish off the front deck with me.  Keep in mind both sides of the boat are not junked up with rods and reels.  This helps both of us, but especially him since he is trying to learn.

We looked at all of the BCB models before buying.  Most folks like the 20' models, and they are very nice.  Prior to making this kind of investment, I look at needs and how the boat will be used.

In all honesty, the 20' would be a handicap in some places fished close to home not to mention the additional financial component.  The PII handles the tight spots and rough water spots.  My father was a set up man/ test driver for a racing crew in the early 70s.  The most valuable lesson he taught is water conditions dictate how fast you can safely operate a boat.

Carky,

Great post.  Coming out of a 20" Eyra wasn't hard at all for me.  That transition was made easier because I no longer tournament fish.  However,  If I was to get back into it again I'd have no problem fishing out of a PIV, PII, SabreFTD, Pantera Classic or regular Sabre. All of these boats are well made and offer great fishability outside the 20' class platform.  We get the same quality just smaller foot print and there is something said for being more nimble in tight places.

I'm leaning towards a 20 footer for my next ride just so that I can have the space that my 196 had on the front deck.

Flyswatter

H2O,

What twenty footer catches your fancy?

H2O_Fowl

All if them!!  Actually I really have no preference of one over the other.  They are all very nice.  I do like the one that has the removable, seperate lids for the bilge area though.  Can't remember which one it is.  I'll be buying pre-owned so my choices will be limited as I will be looking for the best deal which I wouldn't have to travel far to get.

If I had my absolute choice I think it would be an Eyra.  Have heard so many great things about that hull.

Flyswatter

I had an Eyra,  number one off the assembly line.  That boat rocks.  Do I miss it yes but my daughters wedding and no longer tournament fishing directed me to a smaller bass cat.   The Eyra is the most impressive boat I have ever been in not counting the Jaguar.

Think PIV or III at the moment.  Like a kid in a candy store!!!
