How massive of a difference is it between the two? Is it worth the extra money to go up to the core?

which Chronarch  series are you referring too ?    The Chronarch 100D The Last TRUE High Performance Chronarch reel  is the same style reel as the core  just the 100D 7.5oz has a Alum Frame where the Core 6.1oz has a Mag frame  Now the NEW chronarch 200e series are basically last years Curado 200E reels  which are Very Nice reels But Nowhere in that same class as the Core   if you shop around you can find a good deal on the core

yep no need to pay retail when can get here at Much better price

I have 5 Chronarch 50's and 3 Core reels. The noticeable difference is in how smooth the Core is. Other than that, they are both quality reels. Now that the Chronarchs are basically Curado E's, the Core will shine even more. The Core palms a little different due to its different shape, so I would go somewhere and hold them on a rod side by side. As stated, you can find Cores for good deals. I wouldn't buy one at a retail store again unless they were having a major sale.
