I'm lookin to get into a kayak here shortly and i'm stuck with a little bit of an issue.   I have a fishfinder with a suction mount transducer but the suction cup has a kink in it, causing it to not have a constant seal.   I havent been able to track down a new suction cup for it, and have decided to go another direction for it.

Is there a good mount for me to bolt the transducer to or am i going to have to fabricate something.   I know they are out there, but it's slim pickins to get info on anything i've seen?

You could try mounting it in the boat. I don't know what your kayak is made of but it should be plastic or fiberglass I assume. Either way all you need to do is find an out of the way area that's a flat surface. Ruff the area up with sandpaper then apply epoxy and place transducer on that. If you don't have a flat surface then make a cup out of duct tape like a bowl over the rugged area. Fill the "cup" with epoxy. Place ducer in epoxy making sure it level. Since most kayaks are thinner walled the ducer will have no issues shooting thru the hull and it'll be protected inside the boat

That's suppose to be ruffed area, not rugged area. Dang auto correct

i forgot to mention in the original post that i would prefer it be removable.   The boat will be in an area that is 'public' so i'd like to be able to remove it when it sitting.  I also dont want to have anything permanent to the boat in the event that down the line i want to let go of it.

i dont have the Kayak yet, but am in the market, and want to go in knowing all expenses i may have to fork out to make this thing what i want it.

this was my solution to the transducer
I used a piece of 1X4 plastic lumber

drew an outline of the puck cut out the interior then carefully cut a 1/4" thick slice creating a pocket that I gooped to the keel under the hatch  opening

the puck is a pressure fit into the pocket I just add a little water prior to placing the transducer

a 12v 7ah battery in an ammo box fits snug in the forward hold and I routed the wiring above deck  for easy removal when not in use
thew two green straws  provide a way for any additional water inside the hull to travel around the transducer
