I purchased a Abu Garcia Ambassaduer 5600 BCX. About two years ago. Well it gave out. Pawl and wormshaft is messed up. Had some dirt down it. Caused Pawl to jump out of groove and scratched the shaft up. Pawl was worn too. So i decided since it's my first baitcaster reel to save it. I have ordered this http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/dual-bearing-worm-4000-6000-p-6357.html
It's a nice upgrade that replaces my worn and broken parts. I am also going to custom paint the reel for fun. I will post pictures once I get it all done.

I replaced mine with the same last year.  It does help with casting but at the same time makes it more free spool
And have thumb the spool more.

I still have my first also.. Its a garcia 5500C that I got 21 years ago. I got it for my 12th birthday.  Still works great.  I bet I have 2000 hours on that reel !! They just don't build them like they used to.

I still have my first Baitcaster as well.  It is an old 5000 I got when I was a Sophomore in HS back in 1972.  Had Pro Reel do a Super Tune on it last spring and it works as good as new.  I fished it pretty hard up until about May of last year when I started buying new Lews Baitcasters.  Now it is primarily used for catfish and carp fishing.

Well turns out some of the parts were on back order. Hope to get them soon. Funny thing is my wife stepped one of my rod tips in the boat yesterday.. it was the rod to my first baitcaster... looks like I be getting a new rod lol

Mine took about 2 weeks to get.  So far i havent had any problem ordering things from them.  They are out of canada so thats why it took a while.

I've replaced rod tips myself and I'm not the handiest guy.  Consider that before buying a new rod.

I can't complain about the longevity of my Curado baitcasters.  The first 4 that I bought in the mid '90's are still going strong, despite the tournaments and kids.  Pro Reel cleaned and lubed them last year so I can't complain.  Hope your upgrade goes well.

Parts did'nt fit, I even sanded down one of the plastic bearings to try and make it work but then I realized the Wormshaft did'nt have the washer built in like the other and it was'nt going to work :-(
