For those of you who owned the original Team Daiwa reel, what reel would you say is comparable to it now?  I bought a Team Daiwa Advantage several years ago but wasn't nearly impressed with it as my original.  The down side to the original is that it is huge and weighs a lot compared to the modern reels.

Pro Reel

I would say that in the current Daiwa line up, the quality reels start with the zillion and go up from there. Any Daiwa reel under that, seems to be cheaply made, even though they cost a lot.

Pro Reel, what reels would you suggest that are under $200?  Are they going to feel as good as my original TD?  Maybe I'm just too attached to it  lo

Pro Reel

I'm sorry, i just have not found any daiwa casting reel in that price range that i would be comfortable recomending, unless you find a zillion on sale.
If you are interested in other brands, there are a lot of great reels in the mid to upper $100 range. leftover Curado E reels can still be found on Ebay for $150, The new chronarch which is basically the old curado E is priced at $199, the revos STX is at $199, I would rather have any of those reels over most mid priced daiwas. If you love daiwa reels, but need to stay at $200, I sugest you look at used zillions or you might even find an older steeze. You can fid some daiwa Sol reels that are in good shape also

Thanks for the help.  Sorry I didn't make myself clear.  I was talking about any reel under $200.  I think the zillion starts around $300.  I guess it's time to start looking at Shimano.  Thanks again.

you may find a Very nice Used Shimano Chronarch 100D on ebay for $175-200   as pro reel said the New chronarch E are curado 200E painted white which are nice reels with a few upgrades but the 100D is the last true super high performance Chronarch reel  the B series Chronarchs where nice reels too

shimano does have a $30 rebate offer on the New reels so you can buy the Chronarch 200E and get $30 back not a bad deal

Wait a minute...
So, the new Curados are the "G" series, and the Chronarch is an "E" series? Why didn't they just bump all of them up at the same time and make them all "G's." This is just getting too confusing for me.

Except that now I know I want either a Curado E or a Chronarch E. They're basically the same reel except one is green and the other white. RIGHT?
