 Hi..

I have a 1990 Bass tracker I recently purchased and am restoring. One thing I would like to do is find a place to stow/mount my one piece 7' rods. I noticed the new models at BassPro have a round opening going under the left bow section, with rod mounts on the port side of the mount. This allows a one piece rod to be stored, with the tip going into a tube opening. I would like to replciate this on my boat. In order to do so, I would have to drill through the carpet and vertical aluminum wall near the left side, inserting 2-4 tubes. Has anyone else attempted this and if so, what tubes did you use, and what drill, etc did you use to make the circular cut outs?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Regards
Joe

Did that to my old 175, take off front deck top. Mine was held on with screws. Used 1 7/8 thin wall PVC cut holes with hole saw and made collars out of next size PVC pipe and cut horizontal slot so they would fit over pipe and glued in place on both sides of vertical deck wall to hold pipes in place. Used foam sealant in can to fill in around pipes and make the whole thing secure. Worked like a charm. You can even bend pipes slightly if necessary. Just fill pipe with sand, tape ends and heat slowly with heat gun. Good luck.

Doin't  have the boat anymore, but I did put some similar tubes in the second rod locker on my Skeeter zx190. Will take me a few days, and i will put up some pic.

thanks for the pics. man!! I think I'll start on mine tommorow, my problem is that my actual box before where the tubes would start is 35" so I'd need bigger tubes for the spinning rods. The design in my boat sucks....would love to change the whole layout of my storage but on a tight budget so maybe my next boat will be exactally what I want v~
