Last time out running I had some weird water pressure gauge readings. When I would plane off the pressure reading would jump to around 20 psi and after getting on plane and running the engine up to WOT the pressure dropped to around 10 psi at WOT and stayed low on all throttle settings. Idle psi was normal (2-4 psi). When I would let off the throttle to come off plan the pressure would jump back to around 18-20 psi.  Water pressure gage just saved me some money....this was the only thing that gave me indication that something was wrong.....motor was peeing normal.  The entire right side of block was plugged with mud from running low water lakes (Caddo) during our drought and it dried during hunting season. I had to replace water pump, pump housing, both thermostats, and flush entire cooling system.  Over 2 cups of mud removed from lines.  All work done and completed in less than 12 hours at a very fair price....THANK YOU Walt!!!!!!!!

Wow, well done on catching that problem before it became an expensive problem. Now I really do need to get a water pressure gauge installed in my boat.

It's important to flush your motor often with tap water from the ole trusty water faucet. On the Yamaha's, you can connect the water hose directly to motor and run for 1 minute or so to flush all that muddy water out. Then during the winter...it's important to let that drain out with motor tilted all the way up and all the way down.

I installed mine myself......did not take much and was not very expensive.  I did take a couple of Miller Lites to get the courage to cut the hole in my new to me boat....lol.  It just payed for its self!!!!
