I was digging through the LA State Fishing Regs and came across an interesting note?

It is illegal to possess a live "Snake Head"  :-\ I'm sure if they were here we'd have heard about it but apparently they are concerned that it's possible?

So if you catch a snake head, kill it or face a ticket ~roflmao

I havent heard of anyone catching any of these things. Has anyone else?

I know they're very similar in appearance to a choupique. What are the regs on them? That could be a very sticky situation.

I've not heard any reports on snakeheads being caught in Louisiana (thank God).  They seem like they can put a pretty good hurting on a native environment, the episode on River Monsters showed they're pretty vicious.  I'll definitely kill one if I see one, hopefully they stay out of our wonderful waters.

They're are two major species of them. The northern snakehead(which is what is infested in the US), and the giant snakehead from the native country that it comes from. If you see the mouth on that thing, it's scary. They have tremendously powerful jaws and razor sharp teeth. Definately dont want any around here. From what I here they are like other predatory fish such as gar and jackfish, they like thick vegetation and ambush prey. People don't know what they are doing when they release "PET FISH"  ~xyz ~rant!!!!!

A couple of questions here:

Why would anyone have in their possession a live or dead snake head. And for the matter of possible confusion even a damn choupique?

Why would anyone have one of these things as a pet?

Not 100% sure, but I think choupique roe is used as caviar.

You can purchase a snake head through online pet stores for your aquarium. Why I don't know.

According to the Louisiana Fish and Game regs, it is illegal to possess or transport one alive. I was just surprised to see it in our regs.

state authorities don't want to get them started down here. I've heard reports of them in Arkansas. If i'm not mistaken, I think i heard about them able to transverse across open ground??? is that right?
