When it comes to reading articles what do you like to read about. What specifically grabs you when your surfing and says "Hey I want to read this".

A new year is just around the corner and I want to get a list of topics going that I can work on and research that you all here at Ultimate Bass want to read about. Instead of my normal dribble, maybe something that would be interesting lo

Post your ideas here, If I don't have an opinion on it, I'll do some research and get an opinion :-*

I enjoy reading about patterns. Matching weather/environmental conditions to lure and depth considerations.
I'll try to post some other ideas later.

If it says Frog I read it. In depth product reviews. Season patterns & locations. Boat care. Interviews with pros or ams, heck an interview with anyone here would even be cool, and or product companies, sponsors here. Industry news. Video would be cool also, how to, interviews, reviews and such.

I just started bass fishing this year I don"t mean I started fishing this year. I would love to read more about what to use at what time of the year and how to use it. I don't really know how to fish with most baits and why you fish it this way or that way. So I need all the help I can get.

I did catch a lot of bass this year and I loved it but not sure why I was able to catch them

Thanks

This is same for me id love to read more about these
"Kistler Rods Team" "Eye Crossin Custom Lures"  "Fishwhittler Custom Lures" "Knawbone Jigs" "Big River Tackle"

Your normal dribble is better than 95% of what I read in the major mags Mike, because It just feels real, and based on real experience.  Not just tooting your horn, I think most of us here are learning a lot from your articles.  Finding fish, is always something that catches my eye.  I know it is one of the tougher things to quantify, which is why reading rarely equals big sacks.  But I do usually come away with tidbits that can help me zero in.  The other thing that might help is having the articles that are already written catagorized for easy access, such as Punching, Cranks, Worming, etc. It would make for a great reference Library, Thanks, Jim

I will give you ideas when you give me some about what I need my Falcon Articles to be on.  lo lo

Mike,

I agree with bassindude, your articles are pretty darn good.  Things I would like to see are:
-How to pattern the bite (also, how to start working a pattern on a new body of water).
This one hits home having just started fishing this area and I have many bodies of water to fish, one of the concerns is when you start out and nothing seems to bite anything you throw.  Specifically, when you can't find a map (topo) and are working blind.
     -How to choose colors.
-Explaining various techniques; how to tie, how to fish and variations on it.
-Finding various cover and fishing it.
-New/hot rigs or techniques.  This one you can tie into the last one.
-Seasonal patterns, techniques that work better during various times of the year.
-Gear to include: How to select, what to use and when it works best, line selection (size, types and when you change it), maintenance of the gear (how often and what to do).
-Tips and techniques for using your electronics.  Especially for those of use that are using the standard (and lower end = black and white non charting/GPS units) fish finders that come standard on the boat.  So just the basic tips and techniques that you would use when you don't have a chart/topo map to help narrow down areas and find fish.
     -Tackle organization/management.
-How to find the "baitfish/crawfish/etc" for matching the hatch type presentations.
-How to target specific species of bass (i.e. largemouth vs smallmouth) and the techniques/locations to use.
-How to fish the different bodies of water.  For example: tidal rivers, low flow rivers, high flow rivers, reservoirs, hydro-electric reservoirs, ponds.
-Fishing etiquette. From the boat ramp back to the boat ramp covering anything that comes up.
-Trailering tips and maintenance of the rig. I just bought my very first boat and wonder when do I change the oil on the outboard.  How will I know when to grease/lub the hubs on the trailer and how do you do it.  How to winterize.

These are some of the various topics that I find myself reading over and over.  Sometimes to refresh what I "believe" I know and other times to see if I can learn something new.  One point of note, I absolutely loved your latest article (on Jigs) but found myself wondering how you select colors.  You covered everything exceptionally well (I learned a ton and have read it 3 times now) on fishing jigs, more than just the standard blurbs, but didn't mention how you narrow down the type and color you use.  Some of these topics you might not have experience with, or may not even want to cover, and are basic topics.  But, they should be a good range for everyone from the person just starting to fish for bass to the guys that have fished their whole lives for bass.

I hope these help some, keep up the awesome work.

Mike believe it or not i actually watch KVD videos and read yours and a few more fisherman's articles and take notes in a hard back "Fishing Diary" i have.  Baits for time of year, color, presentation, opinions.  I like to here the real world situations that helped you get on them that day or helps you become a better more efficient fisher.  I know we live in the same area and i am partial to our waters and love to hear about your giant on the red or the countless 8's and 9's on caddo (and the possible 15 on BB Hosston) but really i like info that is going to help me on my next fishing trip.  This website has really helped me evolve into a better fisher since I've joined it. Thanks and God Bless

I will request a good Spinner Bait article.  ALL the possible uses for one, all the ways you've caught fish on one.  Do you use thiem as a jig-like bait sometimes.  I know its just more than throwing and reeling.  I love a spinnerbait and i think there's plenty of discussion about one for a good article

I fish the Upper Chesapeake Bay and most articles are about lakes. I'd like to see more on tidal fishing.

I'm really interested in seasonal patterns, stages of fish, and key factors to help determine which of these the fish may be in (or the majority of them). Tidal waters, marsh, rivers...all things I do and will read as well.

We have some pretty good stuff on spinnerbaits in the article section article section already. I'll see if I can dig some up for you. And like you said, it's a very versatile bait, and plenty to discuss.  :-* I'll work on more.

Here's one that I did to start on

Here's one about blade shapes and sizes

And I will work more :-*

We have several of these already. I mention this for two reasons. One, if you hadn't seen them already, check them out. And two is that no matter how many articles we have on a given subject more opinions and ideas is better. SO, just because it's already covered once or twice in the article section, anyone out there that likes to right or has different ideas on the same subject, put it in words and send it to me :-*

Brian, you have some great ideas, I know winter is here already but in case, we have a couple winterizing articles to help if you're still looking for info.

Brivabeach, I forgot to mention that I'm working a serious of articles on jigs. Ranging from shapes to colors to how I like to work them. So given a little more time I'll get into the color side as well :-*

I got some ideas that would fit this concept in articles. What when. Also be sure to watch my section on the main site called "Get the Net" it's kind of a seasonal set of articles.  :-* I think I have over 40 articles in it alone but they range from me complaining about something to a good day on the water to a quick idea on how to catch fish... It's just what ever hits me LOL

Here's a link to a list of them all

All these ideas sound great..... but maybe a few article for the people that are land bound. I don't have a boat, free $$ to rent one, or know anyone that hs one yet.  Bank fishing articles would be good... or is everything the same?  If so then the depth is our only challenge then?

Many things are the same but finding things can be difficult. Points flats drop offs are hard to define without electronics. However the catching and concepts are pretty much the same.

We have some articles already dedicated to shore fishing :-* but now that we know more folks are looking for it we'll work on more information ~c~
