Louisiana Poormans will be holding our first tournament of the 2012 season on Black Bayou Hosston, January 7th.  This will be our only "OPEN" of the year, meaning that membership money ($25/member) will not be collected at entry...it will, however, be deducted from teams placing in the money.  The entry fee is $60/team (which includes $10 BB pot) and, as always, paid out 100% at every tournament.  There will also be an optional 7 Pound Pot ($10/team), which rolls over every tournament until broken.  For aditional information, with rules and schedule, please check out our website at www.LouisianaPoormans.com

Todd I hope we get alot of rain before tournament. John & I went up Sunday to just look around in the little 14 foot duck boat. We would have our hands full trying to launch larger bass boats (not much water in launch area) and the only place to beach is right in the launch. The floating dock is sitting on ground, the only water that isn't matted over with grass is in the boat lane and some trails to duck blinds. Black Bayou Hosston would really fish small, we did not run all the way to the Bayou. We did run about half way and tried to get off the boat lane in a few places, which we did only to hit matted grass in a 100 yards or so. Fishing up on the bayou pretty much looked like all we could do, lake just to matted with grass and low.

Happy New Year to all La. Poorman fishermen. Pre-fished Saturday.... lake is foot to foot and a half low, gin clear, surface temps ran 44 to 50 on back temp gage and 46 to 52 on front trolling motor gage. So one of them is off just a little, we did pick up some pretty healthy fish. The grass is bad, but did find areas to fish fairly easy. Hope to see everyone the 7th. No problem launching, there just isn't much move around the ramp area because of low water. The floating dock is sitting on bottom and starting and coming to weigh-in would be about the only problem, but I believe we can work it out ok.

The BB Hosston OPEN tournament is a GO, take-off is set for 7:00am...registration will close at 6:45am, I should be at the ramp around 5:30am.  We'll do a single file take-off like we did last year, by numbers drawn at registration, out by the channel.  Sorry I haven't responded earlier, just got back from NOLA for New Year's Eve and a Saints game.

I went out Wednesday and had no problems launching or running the channel...water was muddy though, but that was right after all the rain.  The grass hasn't died back yet, but idled through the grass to find some fishable water...thank you duck hunter for the additional trails through the grass!  Looking forward to getting back on the water and a new fishing season in the New Year!  See ya'll on Saturday!

I'm probably out myself. The lake fishes small when it's full, much less like it is. Plus partner has to work.

Todd, is there an off limits on this tourney since it's a Open.

caddobass

I think all tournaments have a off-limit ( Wednesday sun-set ). I'm sure Todd will answer that one for you, but that is what I get from the rules.

Yes, it's off-limits starting at dusk tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 3rd)....like Wayne said!  Also, there are some pics posted in our website forum that I took this morning...for those wanting to see how low it actually is.  I measured 11" from going over the spillway, this morning at 7:45am.
