I have a tough decision to make and would like UB anglers input....I am going to purchase a rod for the Alabama Rig.....I have come down to a choice between two rods....heavy flip 766.....or the ....Med Hvy Flip 795......which do you think would be right for the job.......

I would go with the 7'9" stick a little bit longer and a little bit of give, when you do get multiple fish on it.

I have the 766 as my punch rod and it is a broom stick. Very little give and not much tip action. The 795 is still a stout rod but it has a little more play and the longer rod would prolly be better for casting.

Depends on what kind of line you'll be using with it. With braid, you'll want more give in the rod..anything else you could get better use out of a stiffer rod.

Thanks guys for your input.....I decided to go with the dobyns 795.....will be picking it up in a few days......

The 795 should make for a great rod! I have no experience with the A Rig but from those I've talked too you need some tip action to load up when you cast. That said a broom stick would make cast difficult.

you;ll love that rod. Be sure to give it a run as a hollow body frog rod as well.. I think you will be pleasantly surprised
