I have been looking at these for a bit now and with the launch of the GoPro Hero2 i though it was time to pull the trigger. Cant wait to see this in action on the wate and the ice

They're pretty sweet! I have 2 and a sony handycam :) Always use a case, and the lenses on the case can be replaced because the DO get scratched up. If you want full 1080p, you should probably look into getting the battery pack, and should make sure its set. Other than those two things the rest is a breeze, since it only has 2 buttons :P

I have been looking really hard at them the last couple of days. Where did you find your best deal or did you go through GoPro.com?

St. Romain, 1-10 what would you rate your overall experience with it other than the two things you mentioned?

bass.junky

In my area the best deal is to buy direct through GoPro, but i have a buddy who works in an electronics store and he got me this for cost.. so i scored a sweet deal.

I might pick up a second one.. I bought the GoPro2, and with its release the original is only $169, thats hefty drop

I too have a GoPro camera and love it.  I mounted mine on an extendable pole so I can shove it in the water and get underwater shots releasing fish, reeling them in, ect.  I'm thinking about mounting it to the brim of one of my hunting caps and recording the action there too.

I love mine!  The best deal when I bought it about a month ago was on Overstock.com.

I have the go pro and have used it for diving and also fishing.  Steve, have you ever checked out Hatcams?  It's a hat system designed for your camera and gives a personal view of what you are doing, basically records from your perspective.

1-10 I would give it a 8.79 lol. You get amazing footage, I would say it is the best POV camera on the market but I've never used another one :).
Points deducted for almost nothing coming with the camera. It comes with 2 sticky mounts, the under water case and sound case...you have to buy the chesty and head strap. Also, don't trust the sticky mounts, if you're putting something on say a gun, use electrical tape (shot guns, spear guns everything...electrical tape!). I know some ins and outs with the gopro, I think so far I have 500-600GB of footage that HAS been sorted out. Getting  it for less than 250$??? A steal.
Also, it has a bad fish eye when fishing with the head strap? Lets say you're jigging, every time you lift your rod tip it looks like you are setting the hook (slowly) on a whale. BUT, has great footage from, like OutdoorFrontiers said, mounted on side or behind you.
Because of how strong the case is on this camera, theres loads of things you can do with it...spear fishing, swamp tromping, squirrel hunting....anything you can think of

Thanks Guys, this is th eone I'm looking at getting. It has a couple of different mounting options with it. I see the sticky's your refering to, I would probably be leary of them also.
Any thoughts on this one?

Bass.Junky....my deepest apologies for

lol, no worries and that is the camera that i purchased, the Hero2 outdoors model.

I don't think you could go wrong with that! If you have a mac, iMovie does fine for editing footage. Other than that, I don't think new computers come with windows movie maker, so you might need Final Cut Pro or Sony Vegas (I would look up editing software, they can get extremely confusing and hard to use if you get some professional editing software...)

Hey guys, I have been looking at the Camera Glasses.  Theye basically sunglasses with a built in camera and microphone.  Records video and sound.  Sizes vary but memory starts around 2 gb and goes up to 16 gb along with having slots for a mini sd card.  Saw some footage this weekend that was taken with one and looked pretty good.  People has been using these on their motorcycles videoing while going down the road, might just be something else to look into.  Google "Sunglass Camera"

Yeah, I've seen the HatCam, but I thought that as long as I already have a GoPro, I'd rig a hat mount for it.  I mean, the thing takes fantastic video, why wouldn't I mess with a good system???

i think the hatcam he was referencing is not a camera, but a company that makes hats that are pre rigged to mount a camera, so these hats would be compatable with your gopro

here is the link

Yes, that's the company.  Ike is sponsored by them and there is some Fantastic video on utube just search for hatcams...Some great styles and even a blare orange for hunting season.  Y'all are really gonna like your go pro!  I mounted mine on the rear seat pedastal so it films for me while fishing.  Kinda like having your own cameraman!

I did the same thing with a mount in my boat.  It works well.  I also went to Lowe's and bought an extendable paint roller pole, drilled a hole in the end and stuck a 1/4x20 screw through it.  Then using one of the mounts that came with the camera, I screwed the camera to the pole.  Now I can extend the camera about 8 feet underwater and get some interesting angles when releasing a fish.
