You would think that a top rated program would have a better kicker or kickers since they have 2 and they both aren't very good.

I don't think you fully appreciate the distance of the FG attempts.    These were not 30 yard field goals.

47,  44 Yds (blocked), 50, and 53 yards (close there off).  Give the kid a break.

Alabama coaching really screwed up the play calling in overtime and on the drive with the gimick pass that was intercepted.   Alabama was running the ball effectively down the field with momentum and that play gave it back to LSU.  Poor play calling by Alabama.

LSU was the better team.

Mike Cork

I have to agree about the distances on the feild goals. As well as the Alabama D was playing they would have been better off with punts putting LSU inside their own ten.

Hey as Noble said a win is a win! Never would have thought there wouldn't have been a TD though. Felt almost like watching the Dallas Cowboys play LOL

I agree with Mike, with the strength of Bamas D and the poor kicking, it would have been better to pouch kick it and try to win the field position battle.

BamaCoast

What about saban letting the clock run out at the end of regulation play? It was a given that if the game went to overtime lsu would win with it's kicking game. This is the second year in a row saban was out coached.

May have been out coached at the end, but I feel they out played us overall. They had more scoring opportunities, just couldn't capitalize in those opportunities. Glad LSU put it together when they had to

Any time Saban loses is a GREAT time.  He is just a pompous jerk.  Couldn't stand him when he coached the Miami Dolphins in his short NFL coaching career.

I have to agree with this. To me attempting to kick field goals from those distances says two things about how Saban felt about that game. One is he knew it would be low scoring game and any score would help and two he has a lot of confidence in his defense. It was risky and he took those risk and it in turn cost them the game. There is no doubt that those two teams were about as evenly matched as you going to find. Great game.

I hate LSU with a passion but I was happy to see the team exposed so maybe a true offense can exploit them when they play arkansas. I know they played the ducks that was week 1, and WVU but they are young. J.Lee was exposed as a weak QB, and J. Jefferson is nothing more than a option QB.

MicUltraMan

What the  ~xyz are you talking about??? They played the number 1 defense in all major categories in the country and beat them.... I suppose McCarron is a sorry QB in your opinion also?? It was one hell of a defensive game and any other team in the country probably would'nt have scored a single point in that particular game whichever team they were playing. Call LSU lucky, say they got "exposed" and trash their QB's all you want, bottom line is...... #1..... here piggy piggy!!!

Yeah - your right.  They have no offense.  I mean, against RANKED teams they have ONLY scored 236 points this year.  323 total points for the year.

And then your comments that their defense has been "exposed" is so true too.  Considering how Alabama hung a MASSIVE 6 points on them this weekend.  This is only supported by the fact that their opponents this year have just destroyed them by scoring a total of 98 points this year, with most coming in the last quarter when the game was in hand for LSU.

I think everyone looks forward to seeing what Georgia and Arkansas can put together.  Hopefully its better than the recent powerhouses of Florida (41-11) and Auburn (45-10).

ssj3goten

Calm down LSU fans beath a bit. I never stated their D was exposed, they have one of the best if not the best D right now. We all saw them stop the ducks and wvu who both score 35+ a game they were limited by LSU I got it. The wins over FL and AU meh, both teams are down big time, Fl had a backup QB and AU lost a lot talent last year to the nfl.

Wilson from Arkansas is probally the best true QB they will face until say they play OU, OK st, or Standford.

I would love to see either LSU vs Standford play two solid D's and standford with the best QB going along with a stout running game. Or Ok St who has a solid QB, stud WR/very good RB but iffy D.

What I was saying is against a good D their offense could not move the ball at will if they survive Ark then hopefully we get standford vs lsu national championship

I love the arrogance of the corndog nation. It's what makes college football so great.

Todd

I doubt Stanford will be playing for a NC. I don't think they will be able to handle Oregon. LSU's offense didn't move the ball against one of the best defenses in the nation nor did Alabama move the ball well against LSU. LSU had more yards on the ground and Bama had more through the air. Arkansas n LSU is always a great game no matter if either team is ranked or not. I may bite my tongue but I don't think the pigs will beat LSU this year. Ok St. will probably lose to Ok. Bama will move back to the #2 spot. As for Jarrett Lee, I don't think he can handle pressure well. JJ can throw the ball well but for some reason we ran all night. LSU vs Bama in a NC game. Stanford wouldnt have a prayer but maybe they will get their chance!!

ssj3goten

While the game was a great game, as a non-sec/non-lsu/bama fan I really don't like the idea of a repeat for the national championship. LSU did beat bama at bama and I believe the national champ game is in New Orleans which is close enough to equal out home field advantage. But for fun lets say both teams run the table and bama beat lsu by less than 7, would the AP split the vote because they both won once, would same even still go lsu because they beat another top 10 team in Ark along with a ranked team in the SEC championship that bama did not?

Todd if your scenrio plays out if could get really ugly for all parties, would BSU move up to number two with no loses? They would be the only zero loss teams aside from houston. Could there be a LSU/OR rematch? Could an ACC team Clem/VT run the table and winner of that championship play LSU? Heck penn state has one loss and at least two top-20 teams plus a championship still to play.

BassBUFF

How would Bama ever make a NC without winning the SEC Championship?? Unless we lose 2 games before the season is over, that ain't happening.

For the record lol, I hate the BCS system.  Gotta be a better way but I have no clue what it would be.

Gotta love it! I'm glad to have one of the most exciting teams in college football...every week we get a little surprise! Too bad Lee cracked under the extraordinary pressure, but good thing JJ didn't!

+10000....the BCS just sucks.

Congrats LSU on your win....Congrats to Bama for dropping so far in the poles....I man all the way to #3....oh the horror.  ~roflmao

Stoops is sucking the BCS puters butt...and the pollsters....

Miles coached not to lose instead of trying to bust Bama's butt and send em down to like #5 or 6....IMHO

Saben is my 2nd least favorite coach (Stoops #1) and I wasn't rooting for the "Roll Tide"...but I'm not a fan of Les Miles either. He's the 3rd.... lo

OK State and OU will be a good game I hope and will prolly be waht determines who plays who for the NC game. IMHO.

Being #1 always brings the haters...and makes fans defend that ranking....

LSU seems like the real #1 with the schedule they have played and remain undefeated. OF all the SEC teams...tehy'd prolly be my pick to root for....just because they are in a neighboring state. The SEC is IMHO the best conference in the country right now....Time will tell.

The game was a lil boring but after seeing poinits all day a defensive struggle wasn't as much fun to watch...a good game...just not a fun game for points.

Both coaches seemed to be coaching not to lose instead of ever trying to really step on the gas and separate themselves...D on both sides were tough and physical...but neither team really tried to even spread it out.  IMHO....

Good luck to both teams in the future...my team is 16 in the polls...having a GREAT year compared to last year and are bowl eligible now. They have a chance to possibly get to 9 and 3 or 10 and 2 even....and finally they have some sort of running game.

Cheers!!!!
