Well the Holidays are done, so I hope every one is getting for the new Bass season ahead.  We put the camper in on Tuesday to have a new roof put on, (Okoboji camp grounds and tree; don't ask).  I also have my reel that I stripped the gears out of in for repair.  I know everyone is probably restocking their lure cabinets or tackle boxes, so what is everyone stocking up on.  So far I have just been picking up worm hooks, weights, and Lucky Craft lures.  What will be the hot lure for 2006?

Gearing up?  Dean Machine and I were on Bilby this Saturday...water temp...37 degrees.  Got a bite or two but they were likely bluegill but at least we were on the water!  I am amazed I was able to fish in January without cutting a hole in the ice!

I am gearing up also here in Indiana. We just got open water here today which happens once in January every 10 yrs . I Have been working on my boat replacing part of the deck that went bad. I removed the old plywood and underneath the foam was worn and was holding water. No leaks in boat ;D Ive been caught in a few storms ~rain. Anyways the foam i took  out   had to weight about 100 lbs from being old and water logged.  So I asked around what would be an alternative to the foam and would keep my boat afloat in the event of  a wash out  A guy that races boat says they use pop bottles instead of the foam for the same reasons and its alot lighter. So heres pic of my boat being rebuilt with pop bottles for flotation  :roll2:

Here is deck completed

Still have more work i need to get done but i am working on it! ;)

That is an outstanding idea, it's light weight, floats and is dirt cheap ~c~ ~c~ Looking good on the rebuild :-*

The pop bottle idea is something I never heard or thought about...neat idea. All my friends who have redone aluminum boats always talked about using foam below the floors, this is something I will pass on to them. I too am getting my gear ready for hitting Rayburn in a few days(before the front).

They put beer in plastic bottles now too, right?!?!?  Just have a few of your fishin' buddies come over (at least the ones I have) and you could float your house in a weekend...LOL! ~beer~ >:D
