Hello everyone, I am looking at getting a 2011 Nitro Z7 and wanted some input on the motors. I read the threads here about the 115 Pro XS but wanted to get input on the Regular Optimax. I am thinking of leaning toward the Pro XS, especially after reading the other threads. Thanks for any input!

The regular opti is a good motor. You won't be able to run as high of RPM's but depending on the boat that may or may not translate into speed and if it does it won't be but maybe two, three if your set up great, miles per hour.

The only other difference I know of for sure is that up until 2010 the regular opti wanted you to run DFI oil where with the pro XS you could run premium plus. DFI oil is about twelve dollars a gallon more. I don't know about a brand new one, I've heard they recommend DFI for both now.

The main difference that I've seen between a regular Optimax and the Optimax Pro XS is that the Pro XS is the stronger motor of the two. The Pro XS even turns a little more RPM than the regular Optimax. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but, I think the Pro XS even has a better low water pickup on the lower unit also.

Hey, thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I plan on getting the Z7 with Pro XS once I get back home, just a heads up, there is no good fishing in Afghanistan  lo
