When John and I picked up this club at the beginning of the year, we had to rebuild everything from scratch.  This is my first time ever being in charge of a fishing club.  Going through the season, I realized that the requirement of 200 points was pretty stiff.  I propose changing the rules to state that if you fished 4 of the 7 regular tournaments, you qualify for the championship.  Any thoughs?  This would make several more people eligible now, and would help encourage a few who have fished 3 times to join us on the Red.

I would definitely go for that as we're likely not have enough points to qualify for the final....we do intend to get back with y'all next one on the river but unless we were to win we want have enough points to make the final...and I suck on the river... ~roflmao

LG513, i became pres of one of the clubs I'm in and recently took over the TX 's too. now we never had a point restriction to make the classic. it was you had to be in the top ten to make it. now yr club may be bigger than mine(17members) but we always allowed the other members to join us and fish for big bass of the day. that made it fun for the other members that didn't make it to still be part of it.
but this yr i too changed the rules for the classic berth.  we fish 8 TX a yr and your best 6 count towards the classic berth & AOY. so this yr i changed it to you must fish 4 TX's to qualify to fish the classic and if you didn't you can still fish it but you must pay the entry fee. now it's still yr best 6 for the AOY.
of course if the club gets bigger this would have to be changed again.
remember you must do what is best for your club to keep the membership interested and fishing. this only makes your club better and fun.

I'm ok with that. I've only fished 3 tournys so far this year due to a hectic spring schedule. We only had 6 boats yesterday and it just didn't feel like a tourny (ofcourse I had a day full of problems). I talked to Davis Bunch and he agreed that we should make the change. The more boats we have, the better. JMO.

I am for it, stuck at 199 pts. We had a fish to weight at cross, but with no trolling motor we threw him back and went home If we stayed would have enough points. My own fault for not staying. Going to try to fish river which will put me in, but agree more the better.

I know, that is a hard call.  I for one don't like to change rules.  My concern is making the championship worth while.  We have maybe 3 teams that this would really help, with one already fishing four and two others that have fished three times.

After much contemplation and input from the members, John and I are in agreement to add a third way of qualifying for the championship:  fish 4 of 7 regular tournaments.  I have modified the rules reflecting this change.  I have also updated the score sheet to reflect that the Bourns, Old Jim and Davis Bunch are now qualified.  Scotty and Todd can both also qualify based on this rule change by fishing the last tournament.

Maybe I'm missing something on your spreadsheet, but I can see 4 teams with a "Q" beside their points that have only fished one or 2 events all year.  How did those teams qualify for the Championship?

If you win one then you are automatically in the championship.
