While we are not have the devastating floods that the Mississippi river area is, Northern NY is having it share of floods, high water and property damage too.   Took a ride up to several of the smaller lakes in my area and the ramps and docks were under water.  Actually saw a guy and his girl friend launch their 14 foot boat from the parking lot!

Ramps I personally saw that were OK to use are on Lake Ontario from Stoney creek all the way around to Chaumont bay, water is high, but you can launch without problems.  The ramp on the Black River in Dexter is now OK to use, however with all the rain coming this week it could be touch and go as to how high it gets again.  Butterfield Lake public ramp is under water along with more then half of the parking lot.  You can launch, but will need a buddy to help or you will need hip waders.

Many of the local ramps are underwater from what several people I have talked with were says.  What about your area and favorite launch ramp is it usuable right now?  Please post about the local ramps that can be used so our fellow fisherman and friends don't waste their time and gas.

Thanks,

Baron

:o OMG how much water does it take to make a lake like Ontario high  :surrender:

The poor folks her in Louisiana along the Might Miss. are really in awe as they haven't seen much for rain but some are about to loose their homes... It's all the water from up north. Not so much your way though.  The north has really got some rain this year.

You have to figure that every one of the Great Lakes empties into Lake Ontario, plus all the rivers creeks and streams that also empty into the Great lakes.....that is a LOT of water.  Now the only way to get rid of all this water is the St. Lawrence River which flows north to the Atlantic ocean and it is controlled by dams and the big ocean going ship locks.  We have had low water here for several years and it is not a bad thing to see the water up for a change.

That is a whole lot of water :surrender: It would be interesting to know what the CF moving throw the river is right now :-*

Outflow from the Robert H. Moses-Saunders Power Dam in Massena this week will be 259,200 cubic feet per second based on a report I read in the Watertown Daily times.  This is the first dam on the river after the water flows north out of Lake Ontario.

A quarter of a million cubic feet per SECOND :shocking:

Man that is a lot of water. Thanks for the follow up.
