I have been looking at buying a new boat. And the Z-7 looks really great
for the $23,995 there selling for. And was wondering if anyone had any
good or bad to tell about them. From what I see there is plenty of room
for all the gear you could want to take, it allmost has the exact same deck
layout as my 94 champion had, which I loved!! How has the locker lids and
wiring, switches ,live well pumps and instruments held up for you other Nitro owners??
does anyone have any comments about the ride or how they handle rough water?
Thankful for any and all info,, Thanks Franklin

Franklin, I have a 2008 Z7 dual console with a 175 and I love it.   I have had it for over 2 years, bought it used and although I would like a bigger boat, it does the job for me.  So far no problems with any of the items you asked about.  My trim sensor gets squirrelly at times, but I need to check the connection.  Not a big deal for me.  I know the locker layout is a bit different than mine, but I have 14-15 rods in one locker, 14 Plano 3700's in the middle, more junk in the driver side rod locker, back compartments are full, need to cull out some stuff!

As to rough water, I don't run it if I don't have to, but feel pretty confident in staying dry and getting back.  Was on Toledo Bend a couple of weeks ago, wind was 15-20, no problem running at all.  My buddy did not like it, but he has a bay boat and likes to go slow.

Holler if you have any specific questions.

I have a 2010 with a 200 and love the boat. rides and fishes bigger than an 18.5ft boat for sure. Very stable fishing platform and huge deck for a boat in the 18 ft class. I have had no issues with my boat in any area. I would recommend the Z7 to anyone. I can't go bigger even if I wanted to, no room in the garage. The wiring and such is done well. Even better than what Nitros where in my 2003 901.....which wasnt bad either. No complaints here

Dchance what kind of speeds are you obtaining with the 200??

Right now I am at about 68 or so. It starts chine walking a bit and I usually back down. That is set up from the factory, I have not yet messed with it a bit.

Franklin, just an FYI, they dropped the max horsepower in 2011 to a 150.  I have hit 64 with my 175 when it gets to chine walking.  Some of the posts I have seen on the 2011 with the 150, they are getting around 60 which sounds about right.

Just bought a 2011 with the 150 Pro XS. I'm still in the break in period and have not opened it up all the way (real close though) and with a 6" JP my GPS said 60. I figure after break in and at WOT it may be close to 64-65.

FYI   The Z-7 is still rated for a 200 hp but bass pro will only sell it with the 150 hp.

Yea I read that on another board a few days ago.  I would love to have the 200, but will probably run this one for a while.

I have own a 2011 Nitro Z7 150 Pro XS have been running this season and I love it. I messed with the adjustable 6" jack plate and have run 62.3 mph GPS with the wind and 60.1 mph GPS against it, The fit and finish is excellent and for the money it's a great deal.

If you look at the spec plate on the 2011s you will see it is rated for a 200. They say on the web it's rated for a 150 but that is not correct. I don't know what the 2012s will say on the spec plate but I can imagine it will be the same as the 2011s and that is a 200hp. The dealer I talked to said that the Z-7s where cutting into the sales of the Z-8s and that is why on the web site they recommend a max hp rating of 150 hp. He said said he can not get them from the factory with a 200 but if I wanted a 200 he could order the boat and motor separate and it would still meet all warranty and legal requirements. Something to think about if you are looking at a Z-7.

Any Z7's ordered or delivered after 01-01-2011 is only rated for 150 I odered mine on 10-29-2010 and was told Nitro would not install a 200 that I would have to do repower at my own expense my delaer complained on my behalf that it's rated for 200 it should be offered but Nitro deceided how to address the complaining dealers by down rating the HP new 2011 boats are now rated for 150 as I have seen the plates at my dealer so 150 is now correct. Mine is rated for 200 it was deliverd to my dealer in December of 2010.
