I've had it for almost 20 years and the only thing I know is its a top water bait made out of some kind of foam.

Looks related to the hula popper,,,,,, like a sick runt of the family   lo

it does kinda look like a hula but the back hook on a hula is attached directly from the rear. with the front designed like i think it is definitely a popper. it has a really big overhanging lip to create a big bubble it looks like.

Did it used to have a tail? I can't remeber what it was, but I had a foam topwater I used for years that was black and silver and had a black plastic tail that looked just like that. I do remeber I ordered from Bass Pro.

Here's a pic of the bottom.

Stump - I don't know if it had a tail or not.

I think I might have a few of theses will have to go find the tackle box they are in.  Never mind  the only thing I have that looks anything like it are some OLD  Hula Poppers

I have been thinking of creating something like this myself... cheap and easy once the mold is made. Or even carved out of those floaty tubes like what a friend of my brother in law made and works decent.
My wife and I had 22 happy years... then we got married.

I'd say it looks like a heddon made bait also...Mike Bacon over at Bacons Tackle who deals with antique lures might have some info' on it for you. Good Luck.

Sweet thanks. I'll swing by there and see what he can tell me about it.

That lure was made by Burke, I am trying to remember the name of it. They also made a walk the dog bait out of foam called a Top Dog, and a small prop bait out of foam. They also made a foam snake head that went with a plastic worm, Doug Hannon had those out and called them Snake Bait, different than the ones he sells today though. Let me see if I can find the name of that lure, I actually still have one here in a tackle box somewhere.

I think it is called Bassassin, and it was made by Burke during the 1980's.
