Thinking of making a trip to Kentucky Lake in April and would welcome any advice or tips on the lake

Well, I've only lived in Tennessee for just short of two years now, but I'd say in a normal April, I'd say you'd be looking at some fantastic fishing.  The fish should be moving up shallow and be readily accessible to conventional shallow water techniques.

Kentucky Lake is a pretty BIG lake, so a lot of what I can tell you is going to be based on what I know of the lake in the Paris Landing area.  The fish will be in the backwater areas and near any grass or vegetation, looking for places to spawn.  Last April/early May, things were just heating up for some great fishing, then I had to head out of state for three weeks.  When I came home on May 3rd, we then had the flood, which screwed everything up!

Lures that were working great for me then were Secret Weapon spinnerbaits (bleeding shad with chrome willowleaf blades), Zoom Horny Toads (junebug or watermelon), tube jigs (black or blue), Zoom SuperFlukes (pearl or baby bass) and Recoil rigs with a watermelon finesse worm.

Keep in touch and I'll try to give you more info.
