Has anyone heard anything good or bad about the minn kota talon.Just wondering if it would be better than power pole, gonna get one of them next month put on my boat and I think the talon would be better ?

Haven't used it but those that have say it's the better way to go for two reasons. First is that it goes straight down instead of reaching out and down. Folks that fish in cover say it's ackward at times with the power pole. Also it's very easy to remove the talon, either to store it when you know you won't need it or if you have a second boat (I don't ) it's easy swap back and forth if you get a second set of mounts.

Talon drawbacks:
Untested reliability
The spike will bring muck (abrasives) up inside the unit
Gargage door opening clearance

Power pole drawbacks
Can slip in wave action if you don't buy a wave pack accessory
Must hold the up or down button contiguously to either full deploy or stow

The power pole has been proved durable and the adapter plates available for it are numerous.
I would give the lead to power pole!
Nice video of durability:

I've been looking at both also and I'd give the advantage to the Talon. As far as muck coming up into the unit I would think that Minn kota would address that issue before going into production. Lifetime warranty on pole and a proven track record for durability plus all the extras included for wave action and more.

Been eyeing the Talon, but going to wait until its been out for a little while and see what people think.

I think they'll be a great option for anglers...but I'd probably have to give them a bit more time...(that's just me)

What I wonder is:  what will this technology look like in a couple more years?  less obtrusive?

there are some really cool things we as bass anglers get to do/use...that have been borne out of tournament 'need'...  it's our own little version of 'space race spin-off'...
