How often are you supposed to replace the CO2 cartridge in PFDs like the SOSpenders?  I've worn my pair for 2 seasons.  Might be time to replace the cartridge.

Good question OH, I've been wonderin about that too.

So essentially, when the cylinder starts to leak and is losing CO2.  A very interesting article.  I didn't even think about the corrosion factor and the cannister rusting.

Warpath

I have heard you should check the cylinder yearly for corrosion, but I am going to test mine in the GE pool at some point this winter ;D.  That should be a great laugh!!!!

Take a video camera along, Eric.  I want to see the movies!

I have noticed that the CO2 cannisters are not the same size as those used for bb/pellet guns.  Is the only place to get them from the makers of the PFDs?
I guess I better check for a SOSpenders website and get some ordered.

Warpath

I figured I wouldn't tell anyone what I was doing and just run out from the locker room and dive in.  I think it would be cool.  But I was going to wear a Speedo, so the video might be outlawed in many parts of the world ;D!

Don't be scaring the natives.  :shocking:

JBJ,

I know that BPS here in Cincy has a whole section of the cannisters in the same aisle as the PFD's.  They are different for each PFD as well.  So make sure you get the right one.  I know Buzz had a hard time finding the ones he needed and when he did find them, he bought a handful of them.
