Missouri Mandates Boater Education -- Missouri has become the 34th state in the nation to mandate boater education.  Beginning on Jan. 1, 2005, boater safety course requirements in Missouri apply to anyone who was born after Jan. 1, 1984.  The Missouri Water Patrol will issue lifetime boater certification licenses.  The bill allows boaters who are licensed by the U. S. Coast Guard to bypass the mandatory Missouri certification.  The bill does not change the legal age for operating a boat on any Missouri waterway which remains at 14.  Stops for the purpose of checking boaters strictly for proof of certification is prohibited under the provisions of the bill.

The ABA (American Boating Association) lists shows 13 states with no requirements. That's a good organization to join, by the way, for only $10 a year, free if you just get a boat insurance quote or a quote for boat/RV financing. "Tim" will give free boat repair advice, plus many other benefits towards better boating.

They got me. It's 34 STATES. Three provinces were listed with no requirement, Guam, Puerto Rico, and N. Mariachi Islands. It appears to me Reddman is the winner.

lo  I need to go run around and clear the brain. Going by the list, only 10 states don't have boating ed requirements. Well, 50-10=40, right? So 40 require it. Any mathematicians out there? Apparently I need help on this.... ~read
Still, Reddman got he closest.  ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

Not to fret Jim.  I have found that they're different answers to a lot of these quiz's.  I try to whittle it down the best I can....If I screw up...I'll pay out to multiple answers.  I have a ton of stuff from contributers on UB.

The main objective is to get UB members the info so they can make the right decisions on their own ;)

No fretting, I think, just wondering why the differences in sources. I think, read and talk this topic all year long. Oh well. Fortunately most states have a good program going, some hving bare bones narrow age limitations, and I just discovered several only accept their own state courses, and OREGON requires all boaters to......"requires boaters to take a course on basic boating skills and/or pass a test to demonstrate basic boating knowledge. Upon passing a test, the boater will apply for a boater education card which he or she will carry when operating a craft of more than 10 hp."

WOW.  :o
