OUTLAWS CHICO, Well thank you very much. It is a great complament that you would tell all your friends and family about the site. That tells us here at UB that we are doing something right. ~c~

I look forward to posting with you, either about fishing or just general dock talk. Once again thank you for the complement.

Fishermom sent me the link. Really nice site and a ton of info. Thanks

OHbassaholic

It looks like "friends" is leading the way to increasing your membership.  B&D Bill sent a link to me.  I'm glad he did.

MotherNature

OHbassaholic I think you are truly correct! Word of mouth has been the best advertisement ever for this site. We don't advertise much so the friends that send links are invaluable! Thanks Everyone For Sending Links!!!

Tom,
what kind of lures are you making?

Hi Laurie,
I seem to lean toward making crankbaits a lot but spinnerbaits and buzzbaits run a pretty close second. I cast (pour) a lot of jigheads then just paint them up.

If you've ever tried your hand at whittling you might try your hand at creating some real originals. There probably the most fun when you get that big guy to come up for it.

Lately though I find Im using a dropshot rig most of the time. Its that time of the year when they seem to get me better results.

I just wish I could get some results ;) Fished this afternoon for a few hours and came home empty handed, with not even a scared worm to show for it  :(

Laurie,
What are you throwing at them? What kind of temerature changes are you gettiing? Are you seeing fish on your fish finder and just cant tempt them?
Theres no doubt this is the hardest time of the year. Are there any power plants in your area that have warm water discharges?
Where are you fishing?

Well today I was throwing a worm. The lake is really shallow, 8 feet at the deepest so the depth finder is not worth much around here ;) As for temperature change, the weather went from  below freezing to 70 degrees. There are a couple but they are in Texas and we were fishing Cross Lake today. It is a shallow bowl! I think that the homeowners have pet fish and if you don't live on the lake you are not in the club and are not allowed to catch fish :( j/k It was just a tough day on the water and it was drizzeling the whole time we were there and that didn't make things any better. I did have a good time though. I always do when I am out fishing with Mike :)

When the weather gets like it has been, cold then very warm, try drop shotting with your "french fry" just a foot or two below the surface. Often you can find them hanging if your fishing in shallower water.
Have your other half rig his  a little deeper and see if one of you can trigger a bite.
This Time of year my wife is into cross stiching and just points to the door, bless her heart :-[

I do that too sometimes as it gets way too cold here to fish some months but today was really kind of nice. I fear that Sunday is going to be a different story and I will probably freeze my hinny off but I am going anyway. I think it might be the last tournament I get to fish with Mike until Spring and our move to Mississippi.

I will try the drop shot but if I know my better half he will have a jig on his rod and will catch us some nice weigh fish. Maybe I will get lucky and be able to carry my weight this tournamet :)

I am off to get some rest, I have a big day tomorrow on the water and then a big evening planned too so I better hit the hay. Talk to you later Tom and thanks for the advice, maybe I will catch some ;)

Or Jigs
Hope you guys tear them up. Let me know how you did.
Have a Happy and Safe New Year and I'll talk to you next year.
I plan to spend most of the day on Percy Priest if the wind lets up a little. Temp is good but the wind was relentless today.
We plan on a little boot scootin tonight so I have my doubts if I will make it to the water too early.

Happy New Year Everyone! Well I've been in here for a week or so now and I'm backtracking a litttle. I've always hated paperwork. I have to give credit to our bass club president the Heagster for being here. He found the site and had the great folks here set up a page for us. Laurie and Mike You have truely done all of us a great service by building such a great place for people to share our sport. Thank You. I've been reading the latest posts here and I hope I can add something of value. TN Tom suggested a drop shot for tough conditions which is definatley a good suggestion. I would like to add that when I use a drop shot rig I tie a double drop shot. This achieves two things one you have two baits at different depths about 12 to 18 inches apart, and a double drop shot helps to prevent twist. I don't know why it prevents twist but it definatley does so maybe you can give it a try. we've had the same kind of weather here as amatter of fact the last of the ice cleared off my lake thursday night. I couldn't believe I was fishing in a flannel shirt Yesterday and almost wen't down to my T shirt. I did catch one fish yesterday about 16" after trying a jerkbait ,then a lucky craft bevy shad, and a baby brushhog, I picked up the reliable 1/8 oz. jig that I like so much in winter and started swimming it just off the bottom in a slow roll. The fish hit in about 3 feet of water he must have been there for a while because he had good color to him. I did have one other bump on the jig but not a hook up. That was my last fish for 2004. I hoped to catch a new years fish today but I don't have rain gear for my crutches (I'll be glad when I can put them away) Maybe I can catch one sunday. Laurie good luck at your tournament hope you and Mike Score big.

Yes, I'll take the credit for turning CPR on to this site, along with the rest of our membership. They are finally starting to catch-on and post a few replies.

CPR has been on this discussion forum for just about two weeks and I see he is already over 100 posts. I told you he would be a handfull.

My thanks go out to Mike for sending me an e-mail about the club forum. This is a very good thing and we'll be using it regularly.

Mike and I have been trying to come up with ways to bring more new members to our little family and I thought it would be interesting to see what it was that brought you to Ultimate Bass.

If you found us some way that is not listed please let us know, and if it was a person who recomended this site please post who so we can thank them.

Thanks for the help,
