The tech bulletin is copied below, but this software enhances system efficiency and response when displaying multiple pages on the unit, and enhances numerous aspects of Navionics map reading and related menus.

Lowrance HDS® 3.5 Software Update Released

New HDS software update available worldwide for download on Monday, September 1, 2010.

The new 3.5 software is a free download from the Lowrance website and is recommended for all HDS displays worldwide.

The 3.5 software MUST be installed to HDS to activate the new Lowrance SonicHub™ features.

Key HDS Update Enhancements

SonicHub™ Compatibility – HDS 3.5 update provides complete functionality for SonicHub™, the world's first marine audio server and docking station controlled by a stunning high-definition, waterproof color HDS display.

System Improvements – HDS 3.5 software improves system stability and increases speed when operating with multi-channel sonar configurations.

Navionics® Charting Improvements – This new software update enhances a user's experience with Navionics® mapping products, including smoother route planning, shading of safety depths and contours with both metric and non-metric measures, correcting issues with User Settings not being retained, and correcting issues with HDS reverting to (0,0) position upon power up with no GPS lock.

Lowrance Custom Maps (LCM) – This latest HDS software upgrade corrects several issues associated with displaying older user-created LCM map data.

To access the HDS 3.5 software update files and complete download and installation instructions for all HDS models, go to DOWNLOADS > Product Updates at the Lowrance website:
