I'm Fishing Ted and Maxine's Accent Marine this Sunday, Should be 65 to 70 boats. No I am not fishing the Weekend series, I've been scaling back over the last few years. I have done the Redman/BFL Federation, the old Budwieser tournaments, B.A.S.S. and Stratos Owners. I'm basically fishing locals with my 12 year son now. When your pushing that 50 year old mark it's time to slow down.

Good luck Hillbilly, and everybody be real carefull around those locks, I have heard alot of bad things about them recently.

Well we fished our tournament Sunday. My 12 year old son and I. There were 75 boats. We went south way below the Hwy. 60 bridge/lock. Its about a 25 mile run or so from Camp Mack. Stop above the 2nd. lock and started throwing top water prop baits. Water was about 63 degrees, that is about 5 degrees cooler than it was when we were there the weekend before. No luck on prop baits. The son started throwing Florida rigged lizzard and I threw a crankbait. No luck for me but my son Josh caught a couple 13 inch bass. I switched to pitching a Junebug tube bait with a rattle and 1oz. tungsten weight. The fished moved from the drop offs to being back in the heavy cover. My son switched to the tube bait also when dad started catching the small bass. The wind picked up real bad from the south and it actually pushed us up current at 3 to 4 mph. Way to quick to flip the way we wanted. We figured out a pattern for small fish but not the larger ones. They were under the lettuce grass in about 2-1/2 feet of water. My son said to me once, Dad that looks like a good place over there, so I told him to pitch to it and when he did wam, and the fight was on. He had 60lbs. braid on his rod so I new he would not break off. He fought it for a wihle and got it to the boat. It was a big fish but not a bass. It was a 10lbs. gar, bummer! But 3 cast later he caught a small bass.  We went down the east side  of the river and caught very small bass. We pulled into this flat area and started flipping the pads/ reeds. Josh hooked up on a nice fish, took about 2 minutes to get to the boat and I netted it. It was a 6 lbs. bass. Nice fish and he was all fired up. We caught a few more dinks and it was time to head to the weigh in. We got caught up at the lock when some pontoon boats got in the lock that never been in one before and let go of the ropes and they bounce all over it like a ping pong ball. Took them for ever to get out and us locked in. I told my son we had to really run to make the weigh in on time. In the lock with a 15 mile run across Lake Kissimmee with 25 mph wind and white caps and 20 mins to get there. The locked opened I told Josh to tighten his helmet and the way we go. Across the lake south of Brahma Island when 3 large pleasure throwing 3 foot wakes pass us. Not fun for sure. We made it to open water and its rough but we are going with the waves. Needless to say the ole Stratos held tight at 74mph. all the way. As we pull in to the oxbow where Camp Mack is I look over to my son and said how was that he just smiled and said awsome. Now as I looked over at him I noticed something was different. All his rods and reels where gone. Yep all six out of the boat and the back seat to. Thousand dollar gone just like that. Oh well  still need to weigh in. This was my son first weigh in and he was ready to do it. We pulled up to the dock and he gets the weigh in bag out and to the live well he goes. Fish are out and to the stage he takes off to. Up on the stage out comes the fish and on the scale the big one goes. Weigh master says looks like we might have a new big bass leader then the scale reads 6.00 lbs. nope missed it by 4 oz. He still got to be up there with the big guys and missing the $750 for big bass was still a big thrill for him. All in all not a bad day, 18+ pounds won the tournament. We got 12th. out of 75 so it was a good day, actual priceless being there with my son in his first tournament.

Great story and report Hillbilly. I know seeing your son's face at the weigh in was worth all the rods and boat seats in central Florida.  ;)

Got a tourney out on Kiss this weekend...anyone been out there?
Chasin' the dream.

Nowsker

I have not heard but you'll probably see some pros out there pre-fishing for the Citgo Classic. It's out of Toho but I am guessing some will lock down to Kissimmee.

Rodney

i can help if you want to run to toho

Last I heard it was pretty rough there, even the channels in Hatchinhaw were slim.

If you can get a few warmer or stable days, they will be on or near beds again....cause they are startin to think seriously about it.

Nowsker...if the pro's are out there they will be DQ'ed. Toho's 30 day off limits period is in effect. I believe they are allowed three days next week to fish, I believe

Any reports are helpful. Our weighmaster has an 18' Ranger, early 90's or late 80's, and I will probably end up fishing out of it so I can make a run. PM me if you've got any info for me. 'Preciate it.

Nowsker

Oh, ok. Didn't know that. I wish I had some info for you but I  don't.  ???

FiveAlive

Don't worry about it man. I will arrive at Camp Mack around 8 to meet my choefur for the weekend, and hit up the lake hard in practice.
Chasin' the dream.

Pferox

Camp Mack, huh.

If its warmed up a little and the water is about 65, give or take a little, do a little quick water search around the pig runs just out of the canal goin to the state park.

Another good place is the canals on Hatchinhaw.

At the mouth of Hatchinhaw there is a sandbar, scope it out for fish, if bait is there, you might see a couple of em in there.

Right now its a crap shoot depending on temps and wind, will they go back to bedding or not.

They are kind of spread apart so you will probably have to have a plan on that one.
Sorry man thats all I can think of off the top of my head right now, been a while since I fished Kiss.

It's cool Pferox, I appreciate it. Like I said, I will be out on Saturday practicing hard and trying to find fish. We will run where we have to.

Fished Toho at the BFL Gator tourney last Saturday. Finished 6th out of over 150. Launch was from Camp Mack but we ran to Toho. Caught 12.1lbs from the back of the boat in 25mph winds, that was fun. My boater caught 13plus. Our biggest 5 together would have gone 17plus. Plus he broke off a good one, 5plus and I lost another 4-5pounder. It could have been a 20plus pound day without the mistakes. Whens your tourney?

I'm fishin 2 tourneys this comin' weekend, got my buddy out in his Ranger practicin'. Anyone got any clues/tips?
Chasin' the dream.

Swede

Tips - get plenty of sleep and don't dream about catchin' that 10 pounder.  ;D Bring some green pumpkin stick baits (senkos, tiki sticks, V&M Chopstiks, etc), top water frogs, white spinnerbaits, buzzbait, flukes, worms in junebug/blue, and shallow diving CB.  I'd be working outside the grass first - if it doesn't produce - start working shallower and inside the grass.  Good Luck!!!
