Yep. Add some Sta-Bil. May as well get used to it.

I am running a yamaha four stroke do I need to use and additive? Run for three yrs no problems guess about all gas in this area of Louisiana has 10% ethanol.

Jim, You will still have the same issues as far as the fuel lines go, they will need to be upgraded to the new ethanol compliant ones. Other than that, on a 4 stroke I wouldn't worry about anthing except the stabil to keep the fuel from seperating while its being stored for more than two weeks.

The ethanol will eat old fuel lines, plastic insert fuel filters, fiberglass fuel tanks, plastic parts from 1990 and older intank fuel pumps (had to replace the one in my 1991 Suburban because of that reason), almost anything not metal or made specifically for use with Ethanol. For cars and trucks it is not really a problem unless it was made around 1990 or older.

Even E10 makes my 2004 Dodge run like crap so every chance possible, we go to one specific gas station to fill up with ethanol-free gas.
E10 = 12-13 mpg city
Normal 87 octane = 15-16mpg city
If I had a boat, I would definitely grab all 6 of my 5 gallon canisters and fill them and the boat up every chance possible.
My wife and I had 22 happy years... then we got married.

it ate my fuel lines slap up,made them cave in on themselves and then all the little pieces went all through the fuel system.put on new lines that r spose to stand up to this crap and run some stuff called esorb.i think thats how they spell it,have had no problems since

My Merc is an 09 model, but I recently started to use the blue sta-bil because I don't want to damage my "investment".  In the Louisiana chat section, we started a sticky link called "Non-ethonol Gas Stations" and we are encouaging people to post "sightings" of any stations that still sell real gas.  I would encourage everyone to do the same for your individual states.  I am sure Ron Fogelson would appreciate everyone asking him to set that up!
