What prop do you run? What are the results.

When I had my FastCat, I was running a Merc 250 Pro XS, with a hydraulic jackplate, turning a 26 pitch Trophy (4 blade) prop.

Running with a FULL guide load, just myself onboard, I could hit 84.6 mph, running about 5,950 rpms.

This is my issue, I Have a 300X spun a 30 Hrydro QuadIV X last wekend at 5900 RPM amd only GPSed at 74.2

Dang, I'm not sure what to tell you.  What's your setback and engine height?  If I remember correctly, my hydraulic jackplate was either 6 or 8 inches of setback.  I couldn't tell you what the engine height was, as I'd get on plane and just play with the height and trim until the boat was smoking!  The water pressure was about 12 - 13 psi, so I'd have to say the engine was running pretty high on the transom.

Are you running a heavier than normal load in your boat or is it unbalanced?  I carried 24 rods and a bunch of tackle, but I made sure that the load was balanced.

It's possible too that the prop just isn't the right design for your boat/motor combination.

Talked to Brent Then took it to the mercury doctor. getting looked at  this week I deffinatly had to much trim , still in the seat time mode. I am sure Errol had it to 93.7 on my test run

OutdoorFrontiers

Yeah, cats don't take a lot of trim, that's for sure...

I didn't even think that you might be overtrimming the boat, but it's a possibility.  When I had mine, I'd jump on the hotfoot and begin trimming immediately as the boat "came over."  But there wasn't a lot of trim being added, but more lifting the motor now that I think of it.

I have the JP all the way down and trimmed all the way under , get it rolling  forward then NAIL ITBoat comes up nice and as she starts to roll over I start raiseing the JP and trim. I am pretty sure the JP is all the way up and still over 10 psi water pressure, and trim is up to wehat seems to be fastest speedunless bow starts danceing at which case I trim it down Ihave trimmed it down a couple times till the bow started grabbing, whoops scarry. but in the firm that was shot I have a rooster tail about 15 foot high and 70 or 80 feet long. looks neat but scubbing speed I am sure.I think I should be over 5800 RPM brent told me it sounded like it was going into limp mode so I am haveing it hooked up to a laptop and checked out. also the fuel consumption and idleing alittle on the rough side are signs of a reed  issue I am told so this is being examined also. Can.t wait to get her out again. She is a BLAST to drive and quite the head turner.

She is a BLAST to drive and quite the head turner.

LOL, that's an understatement!  I always had to plan on an additional 15 minutes any time I had to stop at the gas station and at the landings.

So many people wanted to look at my boat that there was just no way I could say no.

Have you caused an accident with the boat yet?   lo
