We just bought (me and my father-in-law) a 2003 640lx and we are having some issues about the livewell set-up.  I've been looking on-line for an owners manual but can't find one.  What the problem is when we're sitting still the livewell is full, when we take off the sucker drains.  Please help my dumb-ass figure out what I'm doing wrong please.  I noticed a switch mounted next to the console beside the throttle labeled "auto" and something else.  So, when you get done laughing please e-mail me or respond.

hey buddy,

i have a 700 LX and i believe they are alittle. there should be a hole in one of the livewells. mine has a removable pipe with a breather looking thing on the top. when the water reaches this it will start to drain it back out. If yours did not come with one a plug of some kind will solve this. fill the livewell when trolling around then before you get onto plain or deside to move spots. plug the hole which will not let the water run back out when at WOT.

hopes this helps .

Hey man thanks a lot, the boat is sitting on standby on the lake bout 20 minutes away but I'm going to tell my father in law about what you said and have him check it out I sure appreciate the reply.

:-*I have a 1998 640 and had the same problem. There are 3 positions on the control. When the indicator is to the rear it's in AUTO; when forward it's in EMPTY; when it's vertical mine also empties the livewell. You will have to have the boat out of the water for this but the first thing you can do is back flush the system. Take off the screen where the drain is (next to the boat drain) and run water from a hose through the system with the indicator in the empty position in case there is something keeping the valve from closing. The other thing you can do is take the indicator handle off and put some oil on the cable so the switch operates smooth.
Last but not least you can change the control valve but that should be the last resort and probably not necessary.
I hope this helps.
