I dont know a whole lot about motors, or boats for that matter, but I was curious as to what some of the more experienced people on here think about the 2010 Mercury 115 Optimax Pro XS...what are the good and bad things about these motors?

From what I gather, they have worked out all the OPTI bugs and are now a darned good motor...wish I could afford to upgrade my 150 EFI for a 175 Pro XS.

I have a 200 Opti and love it.  I have heard nothing but good about the Opti Pro XS.

X2! My 200 Opti has me spoiled! I won't ever go back to a carbed motor or EFI.

You can get a lemon outboard no matter what brand you buy but, they are few now days. Even though I have a new Yamaha 175 HPDI it will not even come close to a Mercury Pro XS 175, ain't gonna happen even though I have it on a new Pantera Classic. Bass Cats are not the fastest hulls out there but they are far from the slowest. Those Mercury Optimax Pro XS of any hp are some fast motors. Just my 2 cents !!

I've run Pro XS's for 5 years now (3 different motors) and I believe they are the strongest and most reliable motor out there. They did have problems when the first opti's hit the feild but that was years ago and now they are fantastic.

Turn key starting, awesome mid range acceleration, and top end that can't be beat. You can expect a lifetime of service from a properly maintained opti

Opti vs Pro XS is about the same. But those two compared to many others can be a big difference.
