One trick I learned fishing th soft plastic frogs as top water is that just allowing it to wake back to the boat is not always the best way to fish it. When I need a change of pace with it I will put a downward arch in it's back making the belly go down. This allows the frog to almost look like it is hopping in the water. It is good at catching the fish that are short striking the frog because it is not fished fast. You just pop it through the water instead of cranking it through.

Gotta try this tip, sounds like a great little trick on those short strikers.

What do you do bend the hook  :-\

No I don't think the hook is bent LIp but when the frog is put on rather than making sure it is on straight You place the hook a little farther back in the frog so the belly of the frog sets lower giving the frog a U shap when looking at it from the side.

Lip, Ron is right.  Just insert the hook a little farther back so that when it comes through there is a bow in the back.  I know that some people will hid the tip of the hook in the bait like in a texas rig worm, but I just leave the hook exposed in the small cutout on the frog's back.  The frog will almost act a lot like a subtle pop-r.
