I started this thread to house the discussion about business cards here on the site. I know that there is a thread somewhere but it has been lost in action...

If you would like to have an Ultimate Bass Business Card you are welcome to download the file. Business Cards

It will ask you if you would like to open the file or save it. You will want to save it to your "My Documents"

Fishaholic

I tried to download the file and got a "corrupted file" error message.

Everything seems to be working on my end, down load went fine ???

mime too Mike I down loaded it in to a floppy disc for use later!

Mike Cork

Maybe Fishaholic just got a bad socket from the server when he was trying to down load  ??? Happens to me often on my cable system.

Now all you need is to swing by an office store and pick up some business card stock and you can print you some out  ~c~

What did you think of them Kal

I've tried to download the business card several times unsuccessfully...it keeps coming up as a wordpad file that's corrupted.

Is it possible to convert the file to a pdf file? that would allow it to be read across all platforms.

First, Love the cards,, but before I print a sample I got to ask.. does the  numbers that I see to the left print out also?  Guess I could print to regular paper and see for myself,, huh? DOH!  ~roflmao

Never mind, just thought about it, those are bullets and wont show when printed.  Lost my mind there for a minute.. please excuse me  lo

Mike Cork

Well Sharon you answered your own questions, dang you are good ;)

Fish, Have you tried it on a different computer?

I get the same thing as you on my home computer even though I can open other documents. I got to work this morning & downloaded the file & it opens fine. Don't know what the problem is!  ???

Mike Cork

BA, that tells me it is a setting probably in the Virus Protection that is removing something in the down load.  ??? But that is a shot gun blast of an idea ;)

Fish, can I offer some help, and open it from here and copy and paste it to you in an email?  Maybe from there you can set it to the size you want? Its worth a try, if you'd like.

if it were a pdf file, I could easily put it into any program I have for graphic reproduction and print it out in multiples at the highest resolution for professionality.

it shows up as a wordpad document, which I can't open in either version of wordpad...nothing but gibberish comes up.

if I just try to open it, instead of saving it, I get a "corrupt file" message.

shoot, if someone wants to send me a high-res jpeg of the preferred logo for the business card and text for what information you want on the business card, I'll set up my own version and just produce one on this end.

Sharon

Darn, well, as I think about it, I probably can't cut and paste the actual cards any way, because of the bullets. Those will probably show up in the email, but not if I were to print them out.  SO what I can do, is print them, scan them, then put that in an email to you, if you want.

Mike Noble

When I download...it works fine.  It shows up as a "Word" document...with the .doc as the extension.  Do you have Word on your computer Fish?

Fishaholic

no I don't Mike, I use WordPerfect for text documents, but for graphic documents I use Corel Draw and QuarkXpress.

MotherNature

Sorry Fish I don't have Wordperfect as it is really a very old program and isn't highly versital when trading info online. I will take a stab at adding it to a PDF so that you will be able to utilize it.

I do know that there are a couple of others on the site that still use wordperfect and they will want this as well but I am not sure that it will print out the same if it is put to a PDF file so you will have to take your chances with it. I would print it out on regular paper before you waste B Card Stock...

Look for it sometime tomorrow and I will work on getting it up for you.

Fishaholic

I have real good luck with pdf files as they work across all platforms, and are now the standard in the plateless printing process for commercial print houses

My WordPerfect is 2004 issue...that's not terribly old. New software comes out every year, but usually every other year the software is full of bugs (this I've learned from years of experience)...the big trick is getting the bug-free year for your start-up year.

MotherNature

Forgive me that last post must have come across wrong  :roll2:

I didn't mean that your particular software version was old at all just that it is my experience that the program itself is not widely used any longer.

As for PDF files being accepted across all platforms your right but for some reason WORD has the templates for Avery built right into it, which are the templates that are accepted across all platforms when it comes to office printing supplies. I can not say that about a PDF file and didn't want to complicate things.

I was trying to make it as simple as possible for the majority. I see that there are a few people that are going to have issues with the file and have offered to fix it. I hope that you will check here tomorrow after I have had a chance to take care of it for you ;)
