Spinner Baits with snap swivel "loop?"

Hi all,

I've been searching through bass pro shops for a spinner bait that has a loop in the arm where the line or snap swivel can go, but for the most part I've only found ones without loops.

From what I can tell, they only offer two types with the loops, and one is quite small (I prefer a larger spinner bait):

Are any of you aware of a different store, be it large or mom and pop, that offers spinner baits with this loop?  It's very annoying to use snap swivels on ones that are "open."

Thanks,

Vudak

Vudak,
I used to have the same problem until I just gave in and started tying directly to the lure.  Spinner baits are pretty easy to tie on to, and a direct tie will be stronger than the swivel in some instances. Give it a try,

Thanks lipripper, I figured those two would carry pretty much the same stuff...  I should have dug a little deeper.

Mauro, it's not that I have a problem tying something on if need be, but I'm currently fishing many waters that are very new to me, and I'm doing it with just one or two rods (my main "arsenal" is in NY, and I'm in CT).  That, combined with  bringing along the fiancee who is completely new to fishing, and it just makes more sense to use a snap swivel for the time being, at least until I hit on something that produces well around here.

Thanks for the advice, all the same :)

In that case, get some vibrashocks  and vibra spins from Karu!   I caught my best day ever on vibrashocks and spins.   9 fish, from shore, in 2 hrs from one single spot.   They are like spinnerbaits on steroids and have clips you can connect your swivel to.

Best of luck from a fellow NYer (brooklyn born and lived there till 1999!)

I don't condone the use of swivels, especially on spinnerbaits.  The only reason I can see for this is if you're fishing for pike or muskies and want to use a leader.  Otherwise, you'll be better served by learning to tie the Palomar Knot and the Improved Clinch Knot.  Learn these two knots and you'll be well served.

Now, with that being said, here's a little trick that will allow you to use ANY spinnerbait with a swivel.

Go to a pet shop and buy a foot of air tube.  With a sharp scissors, cut the tubing crossways, making a bunch of little clear plastic donuts.  Now, take the R bend of the spinnerbait and slide the plastic donut over it, closing off the open bend loop.

Now you can attach any swivel to the spinnerbait and it won't slide up the arm of the lure.

Steve go post that in the tips section before I do.  Great Idea!

Go for it Mauro, I've always freely given what little information I possess...

You can also put a split ring over the loop then there is no way for the snap to slide down
