Hey guys, I am going to be buying two new rods here in the next few days to put on Quantum Catalysts. I have two mojo bass's already and really like them but I am wondering what you guys think about how they compare to the Skeet Reese's. :-\

Thanks

Camden

Yeah man thats what I was thinking cause I love the two I have. But I just wanted to see what other people thought.

Does anyone have any info/advice on the Mojo pitchin rod?

gillrod2728

The Mojo all the way man and the pittchin rod is going to be as great as other mojo rods. Stick to what you know and who has more history in rod building. IMHO ;D

I didn't like the feel of the mojos in hand and I've not held the skeet reese models since they're not carried in my area by any vendor.  The sad part for me is I like purple and the split grip, but it doesn't feel good to me and just me.

If you fall victim to the grass is greener on the other side, then check out the reese line. It couldn't hurt. If his line is close to the rods from his former sponsor, Lamiglas, then you will be very pleased. Lamiglas bass rods must be among the most underrated rods in the bass world outside the west coast.

The bait monkey answer is to get both!  ~roflmao

I love my Skeet rod and will be switching to them exclusively for my baitcasting purposes.  It's all about comfort IMO.  If you like the MOJO's and already have some, I'd say go with them.  It's a good idea to try to use similar if not the same manufacturer for all of your rods.  It eliminates the "transition period"  and you will be familiar of the rod's capabilities/ limits.  I guess what I'm saying is be open minded, go pick up a tessera and see how you like it.

Alright thanks for the input guys. I am going to get them tommorrow so I will let you know the results

I bought a Skeet Crankin' rod, and will be switching all my rods over to them. Best rod I have ever used. They now have a 7'10" cranking rod :). People will definitely see you comin in with those bright yellow rods too!

The Skeet's were all tip heavy to me, which is the worst thing for comfort, IMO. The mojo's balanced much better.

I have one mojo bass setup and I love it.  I've never held a Skeet, but I refuse to buy anything yellow and with that guys name on it!  :)  If your going for something flashy, but an e21 carrot stix.

I have 5 mojos, 1 spinnerbait, 1 slop n frog, 1 flippin and 2 crankbait and i have had not issues with them. Plus every time I register a new one I get a little welcome package from St. Croix with stickers and stuff. I love the rods so far. I have held the skeet rods and I really like the location of the hook keeper. Since it is down in between the two grips you do not have to worry about the line getting wrapped around it, which I have had happen several times on the mojos.  Only a few more rods to go and we will be all swapped over.

I have two Skeet Reese Rods and absolutely love em! The feel is great, and never had a problem with em! I think they are the best feeling rod out there personally!

that 'balance thing' is not often discussed...but is critical in terms of rod sensitivity...I believe I can get better feel with a poorer quality rod that's properly balanced than a very high quality rod that is not balanced...

Plus, at the end of the day, forearm fatigue is greatly reduced...

Great point that I thought should be repeated Beast!

Coldfront....you couldn't be more right.  When I got back into fishing 3 years ago one of the first rods I got was an inexpensive Gander Mountain IM7 rod....a 7' MH.  I matched it up with a Abu c3 4600.  This is still one of my favorite combos to use because its so well balanced....its great for throwing lighter jigs and spinnerbaits.
