Hello guys, been lurking a while and just signed up a few days ago. I finally finished with my restow of my new to me Procraft. I had no intention of buying this boat until I busted the transom out of my tin boat. Just so happened that my next door neighbor had just bought a new boat and he had this one for sale, since mine was busted up, decided to buy this one from him for a song. I knew it needed a lot of work but knew I could bring it back, so the work begins...
Gelcoat was oxidized real bad and needed new carpet. The floor around the floor drain was soft so i cut the soft spot out and replaced it. Other than that just needed some elbow grease to clean it up.
Gelcoat was wet sanded, compounded, glazed, then waxed. New carpet installed. New areater pump also installed. I'll try to post the pics...

Turned out very nice, now  You need to keep that Gel protected with one of the polymers or waxes in the post, otherwise the oxidation will return, really fast.

I went and test drove a boat exactly like this the other day , color, motor, etc  and i'm thinking about purchasing it, His goes about 55 how fast does your's go? and how much you pay for it? guess wants to sell me his for 3500 which might be that low due to being a family friend. and how do you like the boat overall?

-Thanks bruce

The best I got out of mine was 54mph gps. I payed 2000.00 for mine but needed some work. I do like the boat, it handles great and is stable on the water. I dont encounter to much rough water tho, mostly fish in the delta down here in south La. Just about all marsh like, rivers, canals and bayous....

It takes time and a lot of elbow grease, but most conditions can be brought back to almost like new! You would be surprised at what can be accomplished.
A LOT of wet sanding, starting with a lower grit like 800-1000, and working your way up to finishing with 2000. USE PLENTY OF WATER. Then compounding, then glazing, using a varible speed buffer, then go over with a good carnuba wax.
Oxidation can be removed but is kinda like cancer if you dont take care of it after your hard work, if not, it will rare its ugly head before you know it. Just keep it waxed and covered and your good to go.

Here is a link that helped me out a lot, Absolutly everything you need to know! Good Luck!!
