I just bought my first buzzbait for some night fishing.  Its a black BooYah Buzzbait but it has what appears to be a triangular "clacker" that ticks against the blade as the blade turns.  do these "clackers" work, or should i take it off the buzzbait?

thanks for any and all information.

I try to match my buzzbait to the conditions.  If there's a good chop on the water, I tend to go big and or noisy.  If it's dead calm, I usually go with a smaller buzzbait.

also, the blade is black, should I change it out with something silver or gold?

It will be an excellent choice for night fishing and cloudy days. I have found that the clacked works very well with a little chop. And most folks aren't using the so it gives a different sound to attract spooky bass!

I tend to use a clacker about 90% of the time, only when it is dead slick I go without. That clacker makes a ticking noise that will drive them nuts, helps them find it a little easier. Big bass love em!!

im with shawndee i usually use one 90% of the time, ok ok 98% of the time and i agree with lotss of people on here, not many use the clacker cause it spooks bass, but ive been behind people with a no clacker buzzbait and me with a clacker on a dead slick day and pick up the ones that didnt take thiers, i used it because they wasnt and i decided i would give it a try and it worked i guess the differant sound and it was a grass shoreline thats a community hole, so i used something they wasnt and got some nice bass because of it being differant.  So just cause its a clacker dont cut the clacker off, give it a try and im sure youll have some in the boat quickly, just bump it off limbs grass just to make it shift a little or in your case at nite, speed up your retrieve every so often and you should be in good shape

Hildebrandt Headbanger has the blade strike the body for the same effect.  I have used them with good results.

They come with a trailer hook that should be removed for bass; it causes a lot of deep hooks.

Sometimes yes, if your not fishing somewhere will it will get fouled to much. Just be patient, good things will happen.

leave the buzzbait how it is...I love the clackers by Booyah they are excellent! Haha I like what Skeeter_bite said also...I will admit I have had some strikes that have startled me at night with buzzbaits because I wasn't expecting them.

I'd also recommend leaving it as is.  I had A LOT of luck last summer using the Booyah Buzzbait with the clacker.  I would highly recommend this particular buzzbait as a close second to the Cavitron.

The buzzbait is one lure I have never really had much luck with, in fact I have never gotten a strike on one, but would really like to give it a good workout this year. What do you all recommend for day time colors? I have been looking at the Cavitron white with red blade as a possibility. Also what rod action and line do you all recommend?  Braid okay or is mono better for this? Thanks.

Personally I stick with all white or all black (99.9% of the time it's black). Braid would be perfect, cover would depict what pound test, mono has too much stretch for my liking. As far as sunny days go they will be more difficult times to catch on buzz unless it is cloudy...not saying you can't catch them during the day though. I use a 7' med/hvy rod btw.

i gotta agree. 1 solid color. its thought that with a buzz bait that the color doesnt matter it more the action of the lure that gets the strikes.

I prefer solid black fished in the shallows when the water temps start to hit about 70

ShawnDee4

black or white. Black when in stained water and cloudy overcast day. White in clearer water and sun coming out.
