Tough day of fishing.

We had 5 boats and 4 nonboaters show up for the tournament. Blast off was at 7:00 am. I had mechanical difficulties around 10:30 and had to leave the tournament.

Of the 9 fisherman only 4 fish were brought to the scales

3 of the 5 boaters caught a fish and the weights were as follows

3lb 11oz 1st Place
2lb 15oz 2nd Place
2lb 14oz

Only one nonboater caught a fish

3lbs 0oz 1st Place and Big Bass.

The boater with the 3lb 11oz Fish was not entered in the big bass pool.

The conditions were pretty rough 15-20 North winds 23 degress at balst off. It warmed a little but not much. Water was extremely muddy and max out at 43 degrees on the north end and 40-42 on the south end. There was no warm water discharge coming in from the power plant.

tough conditions for sure.

were folks flipping back into the dead reeds?  did any 'similar' technique account for multiple fish?

there are some nice ones in there...that's for sure...assuming winter kill wasn't a huge issue this year...

Since I had motor problems, I wasent around for the chat at the weigh in. I hear there are some nice fish but that was the first time i fished the lake. I moved to this area from Louisiana in August of last year. From what I could see while I was fishing most boats were staying a ways off the bank and flipping laydowns out to deeper water. Not to many boats ventured to the south end since the wind had about a 1 ft chop on the south side. Im sure some boats headed to the other side later in the day, but I dont know for sure. Ill keep that tip in mind when I go back next weekend.

Snyder is a real shallow lake...hear it really turns on for the frog bite in June...perhaps even earlier.

I fished Snyder last year in april...plenty cold...but probably lots warmer than what you guys faced.  Actually caught a few on a pop-r back up the channel by the ramp as the sun went down...

were also flipping junebug tubes/palm trees about 4 feet back into the dead cattails...setting the hook was kind of like fishing over a tabletop...so stout rods, line...hook a fish and hoist them out...
