I went fishing at Lake Munson this past weekend and spoke with someone at the landing who informed me that it is about to be drained for work on the dam. He also mentioned that FWC was out a couple days earlier shocking the lake and removed several hundred bass up to 8lb's and relocated them to PineyZ. The fishing was less than stellar as the only bite we got was my partner setting the hook on a shampoo bottle. I would post pictures of the catch but the shampoo bottle threw the hook at the boat.

On another note, has anyone been fishing Jackson? anything to report?

I have been to Jackson some. Nothing to write home about yet. Still a lot of weeds just in general and lots of folks riding around on the weekends.  Warmest water I found was 58, which should bump up with the weather this week. Here's to hoping its on fire the day of our tournament.

I hope our July tournament is at night, because by then the water roaches and skiers will be everywhere.

Last Monday I was out in a Kayak using a lizard jig recommended/purchased from Rivers for bass. First time bass fishing. Caught a ~12" bass, skinny. Very encouraging. I was out yesterday, nothing but bites.

Going again today.

Bluegill (live bait: worms) are always biting by the cypress. That's where I got the bass on Monday, under the shady cypress. Got bites, but nothing more.

From Lake Munson... lot of fish activity, even saw a bass (~8-10") jump out of the water. From about 4PM to sundown. I was in a kayak. No bass takers (lizard lure), so I switched to live worms.

Crappy and bluegill were hitting as soon as I got the worm in the water (worm, sinker, cork), near cypress stumps. I had a bunch more worms, but needed to call it a day (hungry!). Crappy caught were small, all catch-and-release. Kept only large bluegill.

9 bluegill kept. 3 cleaned/frozen. 6 into my 150 gallon aquaponics tank.
